The More Impressive Single Victory?

Post by Crease »

Okay guys, here is the issue... Please post who you believe had the better single victory.

NUMBER 1:
Marco Antonio Barrera beating Salvador Sanchez in Week 3.

Sanchez went on to become the original WBC Champion and unified that with the WBA Title...
He eventually lost his title to Kid Chocolate in Week 12.
Before the loss Sanchez was ranked #1 in the Commish's rankings.

NUMBER 2:
Vincente Saldivar beating Rafael Marquez in Week 12.

Marquez had was the original IBF Champion but he dropped the title to fight Azumah Nelson.
Marquez was unbeaten until Week 12 when Saldivar became the first man to defeat him.

(Think that's everything covered)

NOTE: This question does not include fighters records or achievments...
Despite the fact Barrera has a better record and is in the top 25. :TU:

Your victory was early on, whereas Saldivar's stopped a dominating run by Marquez.

So, not you.

You make an excellent point and I acknowledge that.

And yet when Sanchez was rampaging through the ranks of the Boxrec fighters, (Week 4 through to Week 12)
his only loss was to Barrera...
Week 3 - L UD12 - Marco Antonio Barrera
THEN:

Week 4 - beat Naseem Hamed
Week 5 - drew with George Dixon
Week 6 - beat Sandy Saddler in a WBC Title Eliminator
Week 7 - beat Willie Pep for the WBC Title
Week 8 - beat Juan Manuel Lopez to unify the WBC & WBA Titles
Week 9 - beat George Dixon defending WBC & WBA Titles
Week 10 beat Manny Pacquiao defending WBC & WBA Titles
Week 11 beat Eder Jofre defending WBC & WBA Titles

Sanchez is my fighter, and even I think Saldivar's win was more impressive.
