Pick David Prices next opponent!!!!

Post by Jeff Thomas »

Be realistic-

Think everyone has had enough of these foreign journeyman- who do you think would be a realistic and relevant opponent for him next?

How about;

Colin Kenna?
Lee Swayby?
Carl Baker?
Paul Butlin?

Further up?? John McD or Sprott???

Swaby would be ideal , and a significant step up from the waste of time he fought tonight , the guy went down twice without being hit

All those guys would fall swiftly. Price should be fighting a higher calibre of opponent given his amateur experience. Personally I think he could beat McDermott right now. If Price is better than Fury, surely he can beat McD at this stage. After tonight, I wouldn't be suprised if McDermott starts to decline.

Peret is a tough mofo. He has taken big shots from hard punching giants in Dallas, Price, and Larry, yet he still manages to stay upright and make it to the end (and win sometimes). I have major respect for him.

either Price is ready for proper domestic heavies (like Dallas vs Butlin) or he needs more rounds... and Peret is vfm

I think Price should be moving on now and not fighting rematches with low level opponents.

I think Olubamiwo should face Peret again though.

Good thread, was gonna' start it myself!

Anyway, I want Mr Maloney to feed McDermott to him! McDermott is perfect for Pricey - comes forward so Pricey can work off the back foot and durable so will give Price rounds.

I don't think Maloney has got much confidence in Price's chin. He needs to face better opponents than he is at the minute as he's not going to learn anything by knocking out fat blokes who go down whenever a shot goes within six inches of them.

Belshaw, Baker, Ferguson, Cetinkaya (spelling?) would all be a step up in class and nothing that he shouldn't be able to deal with.

I have all the confidence in the world in David Prices chine and in the way he is moving forward, Like i all way say there the boxing world and there the heavyweight world every more with a heavyweight is planned out to gain and reach the final goal. And the way Price, Dallas and big Larry are coming alone i am very happy with. Just watch the next 18 months of these fighters careers and then tell me i have no confidences in my heavyweights.

Fair enough. It's just that I put that fact he got dropped numerous times in the amateurs together with his current level of opposition and drew a conclusion that may not be true. It just looks like that as an outsider watching him. You're obviously in a better position to comment (I'm asuming you're Mr Maloney).

I hope Price does well, he's a fine fellow of a man, and by that, I mean he's a fellow liverpool fan. I still feel that he'd benefit from being taken a few rounds. I've no idea what kind of sparring he's been getting but hopefully he's getting tested behind closed doors as well.

That's something that has impressed me greatly. Just because you're a heavyweight, it doesn't mean you don't have to look after yourself.

I also think Big Larry is one of the most improved boxers in Britain over the past 12 months. The fact he got himself over to Freddie Roach for a bit of guidance indicates that he's dedicated to improving himself as much as he can. I like that kind of attitude a lot.

next for Price should be a different opp and a test

not the usual fodder who have already folded against his stablemates.

the way prices career is being dealt with is a joke, he needs to be fighting opponents with at least a pulse, hopefully next time hes out there will be a vast improvement otherwise i can see price's progress stalling abnd maybe not going as far as he can, he should of went with fran k warren when he had the chance

I do agree that Price would handle a step up in competition and I think it would be good for his own morale and confidence if he actually had someone the British domestic scene know about, respected and liked on his record.

I think McD or Swaby for his next fight is a must. With his amateur pedigree he will be able to hold his own boxing if he can't put them down quickly.

I'm concerned if Price doesn't start fighting people of worth soon, he may get left behind and start questioning his own confidence against better opponents.
