It could change by the hour for everyone, most likely. Best you can do is answer in the moment, because otherwise you will drive yourself nuts. Perhaps the question should be best fights you've seen in your lifetime as a fight fan, to make it easier. Regardless, that's neither here nor there, so...

The Bassa-McAuley fights were incredible even if the quality was perhaps not the absolute highest.gambler49 wrote:Rank ur 3 best fights u ever seen...

Just off the top of my head:
Benn-McClellan
SRL-Hearns 2
Calzaghe-Jones (the early couple of rounds were incredibly exciting. I rate it more for the event, finally seeing these two share a ring even if Jones was shot).

More trolling? If you cant comment on the thread dont try and derail it.Have some respect to gamblers threads. Mods ban this lowlife he only lowers the tone of a once respected board. On film? Dempsey/Firpo, Marciano/Walcott, Foreman/Lyle
Those are just heavyweight fights though, maybe it should have been asked 'the 3 best fights u ever seen per division?'
The best fight I seen in person, however, was Willshaun Boxley (5-4-0 at the time) against 9-0-0 Pier Olivier Cote. Total highway robbery, but it stole the show.

Re: The 3 best fights u ever seen
Ooh, Ali-Frazier I would make my list as well. Great event AND great fight. Totally disagree with those who say Manilla was their best fight but FOTY the bigger event. IMO their first fight in terms of excitement and quality far exceeds the Thrilla and is the best fight Ali was ever in (with Ali-Norton II coming a close second)raylawpc wrote:For pure excitement:

Re: The 3 best fights u ever seen
I actually agree that Ali-Frazier III is not the best of those fights from an entertainment perspective --- Frazier-Ali I was the zenith of the trilogy, which is not the consensus viewpoint.

Because the "wrong" guy won.
Three months after the FOTC, Ali and the media had the masses believing the decision was robbery.
Always thought that was sleazy on the part of Ali. He knew Frazier won the fight.

The FOTC clearly stands above Manila.
Re: The 3 best fights u ever seen
yancey you and I are in 100% agreement on this. There is no doubt that this fight was the apex.yancey wrote:"which is not the consensus viewpoint"Goodnight, Irene wrote:I actually agree that Ali-Frazier III is not the best of those fights from an entertainment perspective --- Frazier-Ali I was the zenith of the trilogy, which is not the consensus viewpoint.

Re: The 3 best fights u ever seen
The Benn vs McClellan was a gr8 fight at the time. I remember watching it live in a pub. And I have not seen it since, and prolly never will. A great shame indeed.mugabi wrote:The Bassa-McAuley fights were incredible even if the quality was perhaps not the absolute highest.gambler49 wrote:Rank ur 3 best fights u ever seen...

A bit cheap, mate. Everyone else made a genuine effort to limit themselves to three --- it's not as though you're the only one who had a tough time deciding.Idisagree wrote:For some reason I can’t list just three. Here are some of my favorites in no particula order

Ali eventually conceded having lost, but it took a long time. He publicly criticised the decision for a while afterward. In contrast, he instantly admitted to losing that third fight with Norton.yancey wrote:"which is not the consensus viewpoint"Goodnight, Irene wrote:I actually agree that Ali-Frazier III is not the best of those fights from an entertainment perspective --- Frazier-Ali I was the zenith of the trilogy, which is not the consensus viewpoint.

Those things take time, it took years for Leonard to admit Hearns won their rematch.

Apart from the ones mentionned:
Taylor-Chavez I
Hagler-Mugabi
Duran-SRL I
Note to mugabi: You are much more of a troll than anybody else by naming Jones-Calzaghe. Why not Ali-Holmes or DLH-Trinidad while you're at it.
