Heard a Hennessy Rumour ?
Not sure if this is true or not but a friend of mine has just text me that Hennessy Sports have gone into adminstration.
Was just wondering if anyone else had heard the same or simular ? (I know sometimes these things can be Chinese whispers)

Can't see where they would have lost money as they haven't put any shows on!
And he still get the cut from his fighters working on other promoters shows so there isn't any overheads there

Re: Heard a Hennessy Rumour ?
Be a shame if it were true. No shows equals no income though so I wouldn't be surprised.
Promoters cant keep investing and with TV support at an all time low the sport is in a bad way and others may duck out or follow.
That said, hope it's not true. Anyone else heard anything?

Have you never heard of overheads, salaries etc etc?Coco wrote:Can't see where they would have lost money as they haven't put any shows on!

Re: Heard a Hennessy Rumour ?
Are his fighters on salaries then? I thought they got paid per fight and trainers etc get their cut from that, or perhaps the likes of his press office are an expensive habit to keep!boxingchat wrote:Have you never heard of overheads, salaries etc etc?Coco wrote:Can't see where they would have lost money as they haven't put any shows on!

Or perhaps he is doing it as a way to not pay Carl Froch and keep all of the purse for himself!

Bit unfair don't you think? I meant staff, office, phones, power, heating rent etc etc.Coco wrote:Are his fighters on salaries then? Re: Heard a Hennessy Rumour ?
Fair comment, to be honest i'm not familiar with his set up, some promoters pretty much work off the back of a mobile phone, others keep full time staff, office etc, while some combine their office with their other businessboxingchat wrote:Bit unfair don't you think? oh, indeed, I can only imagine the commercial juggernaut that is HS Promotions has a huge payroll. their promotions teams behind all those press releases can't come cheap, after all.

We're going slightly off topic here. My inital question was if indeed this is true or not ? Whilst I hope it is not, I was wondering if any "BoxRec'ers" in the know could shead some light.
Thanks again.
Thanks again.

Well Mick, usually suited and booted looked like a promoter who couldn't afford a new razor last week.
He had the Jerry Maguire look.

This always happens on here - that's the cost of freedom of speech.martin_g91 wrote:We're going slightly off topic here.
If Hennessy Sports has gone into administration, it might mean jack sh1t anyway.
Happened to one company recently which therefore didn't have to pay out a fortune they owed via a High Court order. The head of that former company continues promoting now and is still regarded as a big success story.
Might be a good move for old Mick!
Imitation, flattery, etc...
Re: Heard a Hennessy Rumour ?
Going into administration is nothing in business. No doubt he'll phoenix the company under another name just like Warren has done when Calzaghe won his court case.

Bit of a tragedy, they started so well. Hope its not the case. If it is the case, chin up Mich Hennessey- time to show a bit of that fighting spirit and come back Arturo Gatti style. Good luck to him.

Takes CH 3 months to process a winding up order to allow for appeal.sweetscience wrote:althou he did wind up a company last Oct of a similar namesweetscience wrote:there is nothing on Companies House website
Ian, my gut feel is that this is a rumour and isn't based on fact so should go in the BoxRec garage.
If this was for a Hertfordshire Promoter we would do that, and feel we should apply the same rules here. One rule for all.
I'll leave this to you.
