Amateur fight records?

Post by tonyevs »

Can anybody point me in the right direction to get the amateur fight records of some hot prospects I`m keeping an eye on. They are; Jose Benavidez, Frankie Gomez, Jesse Vargas, Jamie Kavanagh and Frankie Gavin.

Only really interested in the last maybe 2yrs of their amateur fight careers.

Thanks in advance.

Really only person with passbook will know for sure, but it looks like someone put most of Frankies bouts online. Looks like 115-9 which is probably pretty accurate: http://www.boxing-scoop.com/show_boxer. ... er_ID=1206

Maybe you can ask his coach to correct his record on his promoter's website because apparently it is incorrect on his bio on the GoldenBoy's website:

Over the course of his amateur career, Frankie fought 128 bouts, posting an incredible 94% career winning percentage. En route to compiling 120 victories as an amateur.

I don't really think amateur records mean anything for elite boxers. It's who you boxed and where you boxed IMO. All of the great amateurs have " a lot of wins and not many loses". I really look at the names they faced too. Experience against other top boxers pays off in high level amateurs and also boxing on the big stage helps in the transition to the professional ranks. All records should be plus or minus a few. I can't even read or remember some of the names in our boxers pass books.

Thanks guys.

I am not really interested in the stats - rather the names they have faced.

These are all touted prospects. And will be very interesting to see how they develop. Especially Frankie Gavin - will the fact he has stayed in the UK be significant?
Because the others on my list - especially so Kavanagh and Benavides - will be getting exceptional sparring.

I recently read a piece by Jamie Moore (now retired top British boxer) where he claimed that British guys had it tougher on the way to a world title than their American counterparts .... :-?

So I fully intend keeping a very close eye on these young guys and their careers.

Thanks again.

My record 108 wins 20 losses most at schoolboy level last loss was Europeans 2006 which I an many others thought was controversial to a Ukrainian I won my last 30odd amateur fights

Thanks.

Have you got a name listed record of the last maybe 2yrs of your time in the vest?

As said. Its just something to compare against the top prospects at and around your weight who turned pro about the same time.
Just to cover different angles on what the `experts` say.
