John Simpson v Stephen Smith Who wins???
John Simpson v Stephen Smith Who wins???
On the undercard of Ricky Burns World title challenge Commenwealth Champ John Simpson (won 21 (KO 9) + lost 6 (KO 0) takes on up and comming prospect Stephen Smith (10(6)-0(0)-0), i personally think this fight has the makings to be a cracker... Simpson has shown over the years he can box and slug toe to toe when he has too and may feel a little hard done by with some decision gone against him... As for Smith, win lose or draw he will have a big say over the next few years at featherweight... this boy has looked good in all his fights, leading back to the ams... What do u all reckon then??? Am on the fence on this one, one thing i do know, it will be a cracker
Re: John Simpson v Stephen Smith Who wins???
smith is the countrys best prospect, and frank is showing a lot of confidence putting smith in with a fighter like simpson in only his 10th fight and in simpsons backyard, i dont think simpson will be able to bully smith and smith is the better boxer and hits harder, smith to win a wide hard fought points win
Re: John Simpson v Stephen Smith Who wins???
I agree; Smith is very good and will box to a late stoppage or wide win; Simpson is game as hell and tough but walks pretty much straight in. Smith has a decent uppercut and an excellent jab. (I'm not doing John Simpson down, he's done great but is in very deep here.)

agreed!
smith is better in nearly every department, he is unbelievably quick, he hits very hard, has all the shots in his locker, and has so much experience in dealing with so many different styles as an exceptional amateur.
simpson is a great fighter and has more pro experience than smith and is as tough as they come, but smith is imo 1 of the best prospects in the world. i have been to lots of swifftys fights both am and pro and i have to say the kid is pure class and is only getting better with experience
good luck swiffty

Swifty.
Scouse bias? Nar. The kid is class. Simpson is strong and tough, but I feel Swifty has the advantages in nearly every department.
Wide points win barring any dodgy judging.

Swift will stop him in the 9th or 10th, like most of u have said he's better in every department the only advantage Simpson has is it's in Scotland and the way stephen will beat him that won't count for anything. Stephen is special, I don't think there's anyone who trains like him it's scary an if anyone deserves to win titles it's him and his first will 1million percent come on the 4th!

Im not sure, Simpson brings constant pressure, he has a granite chin and has quite under-rated power (more wearing down power than KO) It will be a very tough fight for Smith, win or lose. Simpson is a game lad.

When u fight someone like Stephen u will have to bring more to the table than constant pressure and a good chin! Trust me Stephen will outbox outfight out punch outwork him, no disrespect to Simpson he is strong and tough but he fights the same way all time and swifts one of the strongest featherweights around and people will be surprised who's pushing who around when it's in close!

Same night hopefully mate if not the 18th in Birmingham just waiting on confirmation hope it's the Scotland bill though!
Re: John Simpson v Stephen Smith Who wins???
Is right mate, big things await.
Re: John Simpson v Stephen Smith Who wins???
Yes, Smith has all the advantages regarding power and skill. However, he has never been the championship distance which Simpson has consistently proved he can handle, could this be a potential stumbling block??
Still fancy Smith on a landslide points decision.

Re: John Simpson v Stephen Smith Who wins???
bombhead I think that's always a point that gets brought up when someone is fighting 12 rounds for the first time mate, I'm really not being biased because he's my mate he will fight 12 rounds at pace honestly he gets better as the fight gos on but not at one pace he gos threw the gears and that's going to be simpsons biggest downfall he expect him to slow down an he won't he'l get better!
Re: John Simpson v Stephen Smith Who wins???
Stephens time this, It's gonna be his coming out party!!! Simpson is a top fighter BUT Stephen for me is one of about 3 special special fighters in this country...

i think gavin and groves look the best, but i hear good things about stephen, i picked simpson to win a mont back but after watching a few more of smiths fights closely im starting to side with smithdiggler wrote:smith is the countrys best prospect, and frank is showing a lot of confidence putting smith in with a fighter like simpson in only his 10th fight and in simpsons backyard, i dont think simpson will be able to bully smith and smith is the better boxer and hits harder, smith to win a wide hard fought points win
