Richard Towers interview

Post by dondada »

BoxRec's own Pocket Rocket has done a cracking interview with the big division's big prospect.

http://news.boxrec.com/news/2010/richar ... cell-excel

Look out for a particularly humorous bit of Brendan Ingle psychology.

I've only seen a short fight of his on Youtube, is he any good?

nice interview though, and Brendan takes his usual route in how to get respect from someone, I'm not sure i would of attempted the same.
But he's right , i've been at amateur shows and the barracking from home fans can get to some boxers, even before a punch is thrown.

Great read.

Everyone deserves a 2nd chance, good to see he has grown up, basically that is what it is about, once you grow up you put down foolish things and think for yourself.

Sounds like a good man, much success to him, unless he fights Warmachine! Would be good to see him get in the mix and figh sa Tyson Fury, I know who I would be rooting for.

Brendan Ingle, what a man, wiser than an owl that studied at Oxford.

I remember watching this guy fight not so long ago and i managed to find a fight of his on youtube and have another look and i genuinely think this guy has a ton of potential! For starters he's massive ie 6'8 ish which when the klitschko's are about is a good thing but he's also very athletic with it.He doesnt just plod around the ring he has a spring in his step!He also has a fair bit of power by the looks of it,i really think this guy can go far on what ive seen of him.Anyway good luck with your career mate if you get to read this! :TU:

Wow.
Great read, really really good interview that is.

Whatever he achieves in the game is nothing compared to what he's achieved already in turning his back on the way he used to live.
Great credit to him and the Ingles for turning things around. One thing about Brendan is if he picks you out, he can inspire you into doing remarkable things in or out of the ring.

Met Richard recently and thought he was a very humble and polite man.

Good potential there too.

Richard's a great guy. Had a long chat with him a few months back and he is incredibly open about his past.

Arguably the best piece I've read on BoxRec's news site.

Succinct and refreshing.

I'm not convinced with this 'turn your back on past life' schtick. I think it's rubbish - he's clearly a nasty piece of work.

It sounds a lot like he's a bit of a bully and will be found out, quicker than Pele Reid.

Some people do change (rarely I know), give him chance to prove it. He seemed a decent lad when I fought him at the MEN. He had no attitude or cockyness about him whatsoever after the fight. Time will tell and I wish him all the best in his career. :TU:

Thanks a lot Dave....that means a lot! Ta to everybody else as well!

When we chatted he was very matter of fact about his previous life, he admitted to having a past but hey, we all do. A true gentleman...if he was some nasty little gangster you could work it out in convo, the mask would drop. Everyone who has ever met him has nice things to say so lets not judge!

Good luck in his career...and in life

Agreed....seriously, it won't be long until these guys start fighting each other. To think I grew up with Bruno never fighting for the British title because everyone was so piss poor
