Armenian mystery man Mger Mkrtchian is promising a knockout performance when he challenges WBO super middleweight champion Joe Calzaghe on December 6. The 26 year old became mandatory challenger to Calzaghe’s 168lb world crown with a surprising 3rd round win over long time WBO #1 Freeman Barr in May. And now the man with the unpronounceable name says to expect another shock victory when he faces unbeaten Calzaghe in Cardiff.
Mkrtchian has lost only once in 19 fights and told Frank Warrens website today:
“I am the mystery man of the division and Calzaghe should have every reason to be scared of me. I prefer it that nobody knows who I am that way there is no pressure on me and I can go and do my job.
“He will not know what he is up against until we get in the ring on fight night. I came from nowhere to knockout Barr and get to the position of number one and mandatory challenger for Calzaghe’s crown,” added Mkrtchian.
“No one can even pronounce my name but I promise that everybody will remember me when I knock out Calzaghe and take his World title.
“Byron Mitchell only knocked Calzaghe down but I will go one better and knock him clean out. His reign as world champion will come to an end when we meet,” finished Mkrtchian.
