Is allegedly's website totally naff

Post by bennie »

I've lost count at the number of mistakes allegedly's website makes in its often tedious efforts to keep his fighters in the public eye. Their latest one concerns Wayne Elcock...today's story on him reads:

ELCOCK GETS HELPING HAND
Wayne Elcock has been given the all clear from a hand specialist ahead of his WBU middleweight title defence against Laurence Murphy on November 29 (it's actually Lawrence Murphy, but never mind).
Elcock had suffered an injury to his right hand following his defeat of Anthony Farnell, but manager Frank Maloney confirmed he is now 100%.
Meanwhile Elcock has been training hard at the Maloney Fight Factory and began sparring at the start of this week.
"Wayne is looking really sharp and I expect him to have far too much for Murphy," added Maloney.

This was the original story last month.

ELCOCK BREAKS HAND!
Wayne Elcock has broken his left hand and is now off the Portsmouth show next week.
The WBU middleweight champion was due to take on Chris Nembhard in a non-title fight at the Mountbatten Centre in Pompey on Saturday.
But he broke his left hand in training, and will now be out while he receives treatment.
"It's bad news for Wayne," said his manager Frank Maloney. "Hopefully it won't take him too long to recover, and we can get him back in action."

So which hand is it?

It's an improvement on the old Boxing Icons site. That was really naff. You can get the latest news on Sports Network fighters and erm ... that's it.

Very harsh Beenie.

Sure the writer may have got the hand mixed up but every site makes mistakes. I´ve lost count of the number of errors on sites such as bbc.co.uk, Skysports.com or even this very site.

Iain Axon is a very good boxing journo so I am sure we can let him off this little slip up. On the whole I think the Warren website is looking very good.

And of course the point of the allegedly.tv website is to promote the Sports Network stable of fighters!

Why else would Warren have one?!

I particularly like the live scoring from the promotions (Wayne Elcock´s scoring of Oakey vs Barney aside!) and I also like to hear the audio with the boxers.

One final thought.

Well done Johnny Nelson for silencing the critics on Saturday.... Will he go out with a big Cardiff promotion against Enzo Mac????

Now THAT would be interesting!

The pop-up window invites you to a match between "Hatton & TBA".
Whether they don't know how to update this, or are just too lazy to update it, I would have to say naff is an appropriate description.

It is a harsh thing for me to say about Warren's website, but how harsh is Warren when it comes to other people? His column on Sundays is moan, moan, moan. People in glass houses and all that. His website currently has a lead story concering John McDermott and reads:

"McDERMOTT BACK IN TRAINING

Big Bad John McDermott is targetting a return to action in the spring as he recovers from a bad ankle injury sustained in his last fight.

McDermott suffered his first professional defeat at the hands of Nicolay Popov in September, breaking and dislocating his ankle during a retirement loss."

Retirement loss! He got floored and stopped.

PS: I like to slag off any website that treats boxing fans with contempt.
