Full Monty. It was in Sheffield with a Prime Naz putting on a clinic in the main event against Jose Badillo. It was a very stacked card including Calzaghe-Eubank.Alba wrote:anyone have any memories of this ,heard others talk about and i vaguely remeber it .

The first one was in Sheffield (obviously!)
I went, it was a pretty long evening, with the ingle/irwin fight being about 1 or 2am from memory.
Hamed/badillo
Calzaghe/Eubank
ingle/irwin
I think the biggest upset that night was keaton banjoing kelly oliver.
Steffy Bull almost pulled the upset on Pithie with just 24 hours notice, that was a decent scrap.
Winters almost died after the fight with Wright.
Jason Matthews/Darren Dorrington was a war.
I don't remember the 2nd one, it was about 3 years later?

Quick google says Full Monty II was:
calzaghe/woodhall
sinclair/santos
ingle/botile
martinez/pickering
Remember watching it on TV and only thing I can remember is Sinclair having Santos down early before being nailed by a monster hook in the 2nd. I've no memory of the Ingle fight..which is strange, given the outcome. Was it shown on TV?

yeah, wasn't bad..if a little long. The weird thing is I have this weird composite memory of it because I remember watching pithie/bull & eubnak/calzaghe from very close, but nelson/dirk wotsit winters/wright from further away/different angle.
i'd love to see dorrington/matthews again, great little scrap and some proper aggro between the hackney and bristol boys. same with panayi/coogan, minus the aggro.
In hindsight, the signs were there for both Matthews & Pithie that night.

I watched this in a sports bar in the West End. England were playing Italy that night to qualify for France '98. When the football was finished they showed Calzaghe Vs Eubank after. That night cost me a bundle in drinks and the hangover from hell the following day!mickey1975 wrote:Full Monty. It was in Sheffield with a Prime Naz putting on a clinic in the main event against Jose Badillo. It was a very stacked card including Calzaghe-Eubank.Alba wrote:anyone have any memories of this ,heard others talk about and i vaguely remeber it .

Thankfully, the leather clad ring card guys idea didn't catch on ![[icon_shame.gif] :shame:](./images/smilies/icon_shame.gif)
Re: who remebers Warrens "full monthy card " ?
Yeah, was ringside that night. Eubank was down to fight mark prince at lightheavy but ended up fighting Calzaghe because of Collins retirment. There was also Jonny Nelson v Dirk Wallyn, Pele Reid v Elixon and Ryan Rhodes V Yuri epifansev. Great bill!

Full Monty 2 was a good card to - but alas the worst of all memories from that night were the injuries Paul Ingle sustained.
Re: who remebers Warrens "full monty card " ?
Great card....Naz was proper giving it to Eubanks during the Calzaghe fight....Cal;zaghe pulling ali shuffles from out his arse....walking to the ring with Prodigy blasting out. People forget what a classic fight that was between 2 great fighters. ![[icon_notworthy.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_notworthy.gif)

Didn't Eubank turn round at one point and loudly, sternly, say "Shut Up Naseem!"

Ha yeh I remember Eubanks gesturing over to Naz at one point like you would when asking someone to keep it down.....Naz was just sat slouched with his arms around Warren and his dad. After the fight he jumped in the ring and was all over Calzaghe....Great night billed around the fall out with Naz and Christopher.T.M.K wrote:You just prompted a memory from the dpeths of my brain...Spiderico wrote:Great card....Naz was proper giving it to Eubanks during the Calzaghe fight....Cal;zaghe pulling ali shuffles from out his arse....walking to the ring with Prodigy blasting out. It was Carl Wright who lapsed into a coma, as opposed to Mark Winters. The Liverpool man has been left with a slight limp and memory loss but otherwise he's OK.
