Hide fights in Norwich in December
Herbie Hide is set to fight in Norwich for the first time in more than five years next month. A BBC-televised show is planned to take place at Norwich Sport Village on Saturday, December 6, with Hide topping the bill. No opponent has been announced for the man known as "The Dancing Destroyer", but don't hold your breath on Danny Williams.
Fair enough. No offence meant. The Norwich Evening News have the story: Here it is in full.guestie wrote:i'm a big herbie fan who lives in norwich.....haven't heard anything in the local press.....just want to know whether its scurrilous rumours or fact
Hide set for city ring return

HERBIE HIDE is set to fight in Norwich for the first time in more than five years.
Norwich's "Action" Jackson Williams is also hoping to take another step forward on the professional path when London-based promoter Mick Hennessey rolls into the city with his BBC-backed bandwagon next month.
Williams, 22, who boasts a fledgling 8-1-0 record, is looking to step it up after four months without a fight and has been keeping himself busy sparring with top-African prospect Eric Odumase from Ghana.
The 11-bout televised show is planned to take place at Norwich Sport Village on Saturday, December 6, with Hide continuing his comeback after his fifth round demolition of Russian Alex Vassilev at London's Alexandra Palace back in April. And Ipswich's rising light-heavyweight star Steve Spartacus is also expected to feature on the bill in a possible English title fight.
Williams declared: "I love boxing, it doesn't rule my life, but when I'm in the gym and in fight mood it's all or nothing.
"I know I can be successful and working with people like Eric Odumase just helps further that belief. I've recently had some criticism aimed at me saying that I need to now start fighting some better class opposition, but that's no problem," added Williams, who has also had to deal with one or two cuts problems.
Odumase arrived in Norwich on the recommendation of friend and former WBU bantamweight world title challenger Francis Ampofo, who runs a business in the city, and was pointed in the direction of Graham Everett's up-and-coming stable of fighters.
The Ghanaian, ranked 77 in the world, has pedigree too: he's gone 12 rounds with former super featherweight champion Scott Harrison, had a controversial points defeat against Patrick Mullings for the Commonwealth title, and has a professional record of 17-3-1. He also has over 250 amateur contests to his name.
It's exactly the kind of sparring Williams needs to succeed, according to trainer Everett.
"It gives Jackson the chance to train and spar with someone who's as far up the ladder as he aspires to be," said Everett. "It's given me the chance to measure and assess the progress Jackson's made this last year and for him it's reaffirmed his belief that he can go all the way.
"It's been said that he now needs to step up; well I think this just showed that we are not too far away from moving him along."
Williams' backer John Brunton has committed more sponsorship money for another year and the young fighter's management team has plans to produce more local shows.
That article in the Norwich Evening News, is poorly written and says at one point: "The 11-bout televised show is planned to take place at Norwich Sport Village on Saturday, December 6, with Hide continuing his comeback after his fifth round demolition of Russian Alex Vassilev at London's Alexandra Palace back in April."
