Froch Abraham not for title

When did this happen, WBC given title to Ward v Dirrell fight. Takes it away from the super 6 even more now.

Ward and Dirrell arent coming off losses each are they. Abraham doesnt deserve a belt/payday anyway

Why have they done that? Awful decision, in my opinion.

Mmmm not really

Isn't there some ruling that 2 fighters coming off loses can't fight for a title?

anyways does it really matter, the winner of the tournament will end up with both belts and then probably dump one as soon as possible.

fcuk their shit plastic jewellery and fcuk anyone who gives it credibility. Good fights and good fighters, thats all that matters. Belts end up with shit fights and mismatches 9 times out of 10. Froch Abraham is a good fight that doesnt need a belt to sell it.

Agreed. However, I've always thought that this competition was geared to the Americans and Ward in particlular. Showtime wanted a star to rival those on HBO and Ward was the chosen one. Ward beats Dirrel in the semis. What's the betting that Ward Vs Froch/Abraham is in Oakland or nearby.

i dont think its a bad decision they have both just lost why should they get the chance when ward probably deserves the chance more than all of them

A Belt would help to sell it to the general public though.

no. proper media exposure of the quality and the style of the fighters would help to sell it.

Both would help.

You really don't think the belt would have helped to make this a bigger fight?

no, because it would be just another 'vacant' title bout, of which there have been too many

1. Showtime are providing the referee and judges. Now if the WBC got involved, they would send in Tilleman and a load of other Saulerland-promotion cocks to officiate.

2. The WBC would stiff both fighters of 3-4% of their purses. Do you think that Carl and Arthur should stump up 100,000 euro for the WBC to get involved for their crooked belt?

3. Froch wouldn´t want that belt back unless it was Kessler wearing it during the ring walk, not some vacated title from the man he lost it to originally.

The final, if it holds, will be for both belts whoever of the semis gets the belt, so it's no big deal.

Is it just more of a carrot at this stage just to encourage Ward & Dirrell to fight?

Well from the way I have seen it is on down on their schedules as an eliminator for the belt which means that they wiil get first shot against the winner of the Andre Dirrell and Andre Ward fight (if Showtime or whoever can bang their heads together and get them in the ring somewhere) so then you have a unifaction match for the WBA/WBC belts whether the winner of the Dirrell/Ward fight will have everything to lose against a Former holder of the belt in Carl Froch should he beat Arthur Abraham in Monaco. This scenario will help Showtime and the promoters shift more tickets and Pay Per View buys if you are looking at from Showtime's and the promoters angles. However for we all know Abraham could starch Froch in Monaco and gives the tournament another twist with the possibility of an Abraham/Dirrell rematch if Dirrell beats Ward in their fight back in the United States. So you have got quite a few interesting directions in how the Super Six might go.

Ward and Dirrell both won their last fights, Froch and AA both lost their last fights. No matter which pair fought for the belt, both titles will be on the line in the finals (although I do understand why having the champions meet in the finals makes sense). Therefore, I don't really have a problem with it. Also, Dirrell is the number one ranked fighter in the WBC, so people should not assume Ward-Dirrell is happening simply because they are American.

Jesus christ. Why don't the WBC just call every active boxer a WBC champion and just have done with it :witzend:

Nothing comes on a plate for Froch, but he should used to this by now and will just have to do the business against Abraham.

Fighters make belts!! Belts don't make fighters!!

It's nice to own the WBC title im sure BUT would you rather see Froch fight say Brian Magee for WBC title or fight Arthur Abraham in a 12 round non title fight?? I know which fight I would rather see... :TU:

Sorry, but I am quite glad. It wouldn't have looked good had both fighters coming off a loss contested the title. Especially as the WBC had promised Dirrell first dibs if anything like this happened, or post super 6.
