Premier Sports TV to broadcast 4 live boxing matches in Sept

Post by HS Press »

Premier Sports TV to broadcast 4 live boxing matches in September.

Premier Sports TV is delighted to announce it has secured a deal to bring more top boxing to UK viewers during September. On the back of the Felix Strum fight last weekend they have now secured the rights to bring the following top fight nights to UK viewers on Sky channel 433 at a price of only £6.99 per month.

Friday 10th September: Tyson Fury vs. Rich Power
John O'Donnell vs. Terrence Cauthen
Saturday 11th September: Erik Morales vs. Willie Limond
Saturday 18th September: Carl Frampton vs. Yuriy Voronin
Saturday 18th September: Shane Mosley vs. Sergio Mora

The shows will be aired in full with some great undercards to back up the main events. Premier Sports is delighted to be bringing fights to UK viewers that were previously not going to be shown. We have worked hard over the last week to put in place some great events for our customers and we believe we can offer viewers at least one fight a month from September onwards at the great price of only £6.99 a month. A fraction of what viewers would pay on PPV channels.

Premier Sports is a new sports channel available through subscription to around 10 million Sky platform users on channel 433. The channel costs only £6.99 per month with no annual contract. Currently they are building up a sports portfolio that includes live boxing, football from the Blue Square Bet Premier, South America and Ireland, Gaelic sports and live rugby league from Australia.
Customers who want to purchase the service are being asked to visit the website http://www.premeirsports.tv or call Domestic 0871 663 900 / Commercial 0871 222 8484.

Depends what fight they are bringing us each month as to whether it`s worth £6.99

I suppose it`s got the rugby as well, so on that note I`m in like Errol.

Well worth the seven quid for September at least — plus they may show more fights featuring Felix Strum, the guitar-playing middleweight funster!

My sky bill is already over £80 a month I cannot justify forking out another £7 on top.

If they'll do it, month by month might be the way to go. Seven quid isn't much more than a single Primetime PPV and it's half as much as Mag 7, so if you are getting four shows per month (as long as they are decent quality) it could be good value. Suppose we have to watch this space on that though, everyone starts well and gets worse

Without knowing anythng about production quality, commentary team or hassle factor re signing up, this is very promising if the bills shown would not otherwise be shown.

Someone said the Sturm fight was the German feed with John Rawling commentating over it, daresay it will be something similar for Fury/O'Donnell, but as an American broadcast why even have a British commentary version? It will be interesting to see how this develops but personally I haven't got a problem with American commentaries. As long as I can understand what they're saying I'm happy.

Not a bad start at all from this new broadcaster.

If the mid-top tier American fights can get shown then they could be onto a winner.

The demise of Setanta was a sad day for British boxing fans

OK, this is starting to look better, still going to wait it out for a couple of months until I can see exactly how many fights we're getting per month.

But ffs can you get the link right...... :P

It would really help people if HS could get the web address right in the press releases

Any of the Irish posters wondering about Premier Sports TV should be happy to know that it is a sister company of Setanta and by the looks of it, all the fights that Premier show will also be available on Setanta. :TU:

Including the Sturm bill last Saturday, that is 5 live cards for £7.
If they can keep showing all the Sauerland bills, throw in a Hennessey show a month along with the Irish stuff and the Stateside stuff not picked up by Sky, then seven quid is an absolute bargain in my eyes.

He's kept most of the guys he had when he was with ITV and Fury is probably a headliner now.

7 quid per month is a bargain for this lot - I've actually missed these nights & when we have the option to see fights that S$y wont be showing - Its something we haven't had since Setanta went bust.

Only can be a good thing.
