Hearns by early knockout 8 or 9 times out of ten. Bigger puncher, faster, bigger man, better. Uphill climb for Julian.

But remember Jackson knocked out the speedster Terry Norris in 2.

And Hearns lands first far more often than not. No question about it. N

I say 50/50.

1 punch either way, both pretty chinny.

Hearns always landed first. By your method it's closer to 100/0.

Always landed 1st? Proof of this?

Challenging Saad on Hearns. Rookie mistake. This'll be less a debate, & more a hazing for the new guy :OhYes:

I don't pick Hearns in every fight, this fight favors him. Wouldn't you agree?

Pick a Hearns fight and watch the first round. I'm not saying that the first punch ends the fight, you are.

Hearns was much faster, and a better puncher!
Hearns wins 8/9 out of 10.
No way is this fight going beyond 7 rounds.

Hearns is too fast for Jackson, wins by KO in 3. Jackson obviously has a punchers chance though

A better matchup would be Jackson vs Trinidad.

Hearns was better than Jackson at everything.

I agree with you...Hearns at 154lbs, was a monster. That was his best weight class. I could see now why Sugar Ray Leonard never wanted no part of him at that weight. I don't see too many fighters beating Tommy at 154lbs. Maybe the great Mike McCallum, that's it. That Hitman that crushed the great Roberto Duran in only 2 rounds, even though, Duran was way past his prime, speak volumes for me.

Hearns by KO in 5 rounds.

Yeah Jackson was a bigger puncher than Barkley but cruder and the Hearns we're talking about here was younger and less complacent.

I agree 8 times out of 10 Hearns rips Jacksons eyebrows to a bloody mess but takes him out with bodyshots. Jackson was one tough man and despite his relative crudeness had a great boxing brain . His knockouts were frequently part of a well established trap.

But Jackson was a guy who could conceivably kayo with 1 punch a less than concentrating Tommy

Whoever lands first! I think Jackson was the harder puncher, but either guy could knockout anyone with one shot from either hand! It might last a round, but it would be one of the most intense and brutal fights for as long as it lasted!

it wouldnt be as crude as "whoever lands first".....Tommy was a super stylist and lightning fast. Incredible strategist who could punch to the body or take a man out with 1 power punch. Jackson had strategy but he would take too long and wouldnt be able to find a chink in this tommy soon enough.

Both guys are huge right hand bombers, with questionable chins, so yes it is a battle of who lands first. Considering that Hearns always showed a whole lot more boxing skill than Jackson ever did ( several of Jackson's KO's are of the one punch variety when he was being severely outclassed ). Hearns has all around better skills, WAY better jab, better bodypunching, he's longer, he's faster. Yeah I'd say Hearns wins.

Hi barry, hope you're well, mate.

I seem to remember that Jackson is one of your favourite fighters.

He has a chance against anyone but for me Hearns has more chance at landing that shot first because he ahd so much more to his game.

Thank Ezz...I'm doing really well now...had some physical issues with my liver and a couple of bouts with cancer, but I am now cancer-free and my liver, while it will always be scarred, is in really good shape now!

I think Hearns would win, but as to Hearns being able to use his boxing ability and style...he would have the opportunity as both would come out wanting to make a serious statement due to their punching prowess and it would be too dangerous for either fighter to try and box stylistically! I think it would be a "bombs away" just as Hagler-Hearns was simply because the two were not only viciously, brutal punchers, but the public was all very clued-in to the punching ability of both men and I think they both would try to be the first to make a statement, which when a fighter punched as hard as these two did...that fist statement had the tendency to be the first, as well as the last statement of the fight!

Hearns had to go in there and blow out Pipino Cuevas and tried to stay with Hagler and he tried to stay with other bombers such as Barkley. I just don't think Hearns would have the luxury of using his boxing skill in this fight, but I do think he would win!

Good to see you're ok.

Are you going to resume mod status because the current scene is in dire replacement of this asterix fella?

They are two of my favourite fighters.

It's hard to pick a clear winner because either could take the other out with one punch.

Most people forget that Jackson rocked the iron chinned McCallum to his boots before getting stopped in the 2nd. I think he'd tag Hearns and hurt him (and Tommy could be hurt) but I honestly think the hearns that took out Schuler (I realise this was at middle but he fought at 154 after this) with his steely determination, body punching and laser guided bombs to the chin would take out Julian. I wouldn't want to bet on it though.
