Nelson could be facing the end of the road tonight. I tipped Nelson to win in a preview I did of the fight. Now, I'm not so sure. I think he's all out of miracles.

I read your BN preview yesterday bennie, well written but could be wrong!
No it's about 50/50 I'd say - Johnny has all the skills, but he's a long way from home if he's not on form tonight.

Good preview Bennie, this really could go either way, but If I had to bet, I'd go with Johnny, even in the lions den.
I bumped into Johnny at the Hilton, Sheffield after the Johnson - Woods "draw". He seemed in great shape as you would expect, but said he only saw three or four more fights max.
He's obviously being paid well for this fight and this would be a big factor in him going away from home.
At the end of the day, I feel Johnny could have acheived so much more in boxing, but I feel his career strategy is similar to his ring style. Do just enough to do well.
Johnny could certainly have won WBA/WBC titles and I reckon he could still give the likes of Wayne Braithwaite very tough times.
I gather tht Johnny knows where every penny he has earned has gone and has invested and speculated well.

i was impressed with nelson too. trouble is, the queries put to him about bigger fights were kinda half hearted by Sky. They knew he isn't genuinely interested in the top guys. it's a shame, nelson has been a consistently underrated fighter due to his style, but his style has brought him success and on his day he'd easily be able to compete with the big boys and would have a good chance to win.

What a wasted career
Nelson has never seemed all that interested in taking on the big boys of the division. A few years ago I would have given him a good chance oif beating Jirov, now, I don't think he has enough left to beat Jirov or mormeck, he got by this guy, but the way he performed against Sellers and Guillermo Jones indicates to me that under pressure against the best, he wouldn't cope.
Nelson has been a bit of a dissapointment, he spoke well yesterday and said alot of truths. Yes, there are no Superstars in the cruiserweight devision (if you count IBF champion Toney as a heavyweight). However, he didn't appear interested in testing himself (cause Jirov, Mormeck, Braithwaite, Hill and a few others are tests) and did seem contented in beating guys like Petkovic and declaring himself number 1.
With his brilliant display against Thompson (who is known in America thanks to showtime screening his wars with Eubank) I was (on another site) declaring Nelson as the best cruiser in the world. I got absolutely ridiculed (by Brits) about the statement. I didn't think anything of Jirov and thought Hill was over the Hill. His lack of ambition and poor performances against frankly average opponents have made me eat my words.
I don't think he can beat any of the names I have mentioned above, but it would be nice to see him try. My respect for him will go up dramatically if he shares a ring with one of the above names (win, lose or draw). I believe he's scared and happy to pick up his 100K to fight guys like Petkovic. Finacially and buisness wise I can't blame him, but its not really in the nature of his proffesion to think like that.
