Favourite boxing images - Part 6367

Post by Srebmun »

Prob' done thousands of times, but have been looking at some images today, thinking what boxing images I'd perhaps like around the house, thinking of the classic images from over the years, e.g. Ali standing over Liston, such a fantastic image.

I have a great B&W pic of Ali with Elvis which I love and I was thinking of getting this one of Louis into a frame as I also love it.

From this link which is to Harry E.Winklers collection http://www.library.nd.edu/rarebooks/exh ... ndex.shtml

But, what are your favourites or which do you think are the most iconic?

Please of course.

I have posted the above image and link into a failed thread in Boxers of the Past before.

How big must have this mans stones have been to be the man he was at the time he lived, utterly incredible IMO.

I have yes J, was thinking of it when posting that image. He was some man that's for sure, can't imagine the kind of hatred he would have been faced with but 95% of the images you see of him he just has that jovial big face.

I know Ali faced adversity but jeez, Johnson faced far more.

It has a timeless quality to it, doesn't yet..yet at the same time screams several things.

The link I had to the Sports Illustrated website seems to be dead, that had some amazing images of 80s boxing on there.

This is a great image:

If you want good, old photos then the best thing to do is search wire photos on ebay, you can get some amazing pictures that look great framed. They're not that expensive either.

Love that image, he looks proper hard.

{useless info} I meet my missus on the corner of the crossroads of New St, Valance Rd, Whitechapel Rd a cpl of times a month after work on a Friday and he was born just around the corner, there's a plaque on the one of the walls for him. 8)
