Nilles-Hams-Nilles
Hi Kevin,
sorry to have answered so later, but I am very busy.....
According "Annuaire du Ring 1945-46", Marcel Nilles took up the title to Albert Lurie (undefeated since 25 May 1913) in Bordeaux, 8 June 1919, Lurie gave up at 6th round.
Paul Hams, a Martinique's guy, outpointed (20 rounds) Nilles on 20 (or 22) October 1919, then Nilles got back the French crown in Marseille, 1st August 1920, when Hams was disqualified at 8th round.
As you probably know, Nilles was defeated by Carpentier on 6 May 1923.
The discrepancy between Monday 20 (Annuaire du Ring 1945-46) and Wednesday 22 (Annuaire du Ring 1921) October 1919 should be solved by an actual source, that I don't have, sorry.
Kindest regards
Gherardo
