DemolitionDaley cleared to box at Cruiserweight :-)
Well guys its on! I drove over to the dark side of Yorkshire through a monsoon to put my case for my licence back to the board of control. It wasn't cut and dry by any means and I had a lot of talking and convincing to do but it went well and they have cleared me to box at cruiser pending renewal of my medicals which were due anyway. See you all at a show near you soon

Any idea when your likely to be boxing?
Re: DemolitionDaley cleared to box at Cruiserweight :-)
Nice one mate, glad to see the hard work paid off for you.
Re: DemolitionDaley cleared to box at Cruiserweight :-)
What a good story, we've had a running commentary on it here too.
I hope it goes well for you and you start getting a few wins under your belt.
It certainly would be a real cinderella story if you could get up there in the ratings!
Goodluck.

Great achievement that- hope you do well.
Re: DemolitionDaley cleared to box at Cruiserweight :-)
good advice from billy to you there howard, the cruisers might not have the weight behind the shot but they will have more speed with it.
get a few cruiser stoppage wins under your belt howard, theu go for a prizefighter cruiser weight shot !!

Well done Howard, seen you at a boxing show in Salford (fit city) a couple of weeks ago, you looked a lot better for the weight loss, i`m sure you will feel better in the ring at the new weight, good luck at CW and get some wins on your record.

It's always interesting to read about the usually 'hidden' aspects of the sport.

Thanks fellas, all being well I've got Lee Kellet in Preston on the 28th November. I'm definately going to pick my opponents wisely from now on and try and build myself up. No more "Any fight any notice".

What do you make of Kellett? Doesn't seem to have been too active of late. Haven't seen him myself so can only go by his record but it looks like a good match up to see where you stand.

I mean maybe you're doing your job but why you gotta stop me from doing mine? Cause if you're willing to go through all the battling you got to go through to get where you want to get, who's got the right to stop you? I mean maybe some of you guys got something you never finished, something you really want to do, something you never said to someone, something... and you're told no, even after you paid your dues? Who's got the right to tell you that, who? Nobody! It's your right to listen to your gut, it ain't nobody's right to say no after you earned the right to be where you want to be and do what you want to do!... You know, the older I get the more things I gotta leave behind, that's life. The only thing I'm asking you guys to leave on the table... is what's right.

It's a only a film.MachoMan09 wrote:Think back to Rocky. In the film, Rocky Balboa is a struggling club-fighter doubling up as a part-time debt collector. He is out-of-shape and his training is lacking any form of structure and consistency. His lifestyle in no way resembles that of a genuine, focussed athlete. We are expected to believe that by simply gritting his teeth for a couple of weeks and digging out blind on fight night, he has suddenly become a legitmate championship contender. This is, in my opinion, the sort of story that sets a bad example.
You can't just wish something happens and rely on 'wanting it more'. You achieve sporting greatness by utilising your genetics to their maximum potential by spending months and years living a selfish, monotonous, structured existence. Your training, diet and lifestyle must be tailored to bring the best out of your physiological systems. Your psychological drive and resillience are a crucial factor too but they aren't worth a wank without the other component parts.
