Khan v Mayweather early 2011 !
According to BS.com If khan wins in december and mayweather overcomes his legal issues richard schaefer of golden boy is going to try his hardest to make the fight happen in spring next year, its a fight that doesnt need bob arum as the middle man and could be quite easy to make, i think khan could make a good fight of it and although he will be a big underdog could spring an upset ! there must be more chance of this happening than mayweather/pacman. ![[icon_notworthy.gif]](./images/smilies/icon_notworthy.gif)

I think people underestimate Mayweathers power, he would definitely land on Khan, couldn't see it going beyond 3 rounds
Re: Khan v Mayweather early 2011 !
I dont think he would, khans looked alot stronger at 140lb and under roach, mayweathers not a power puncher, i know his very accurate but his never faced anyone as fast as himself, im not saying khan would win but i certainly dont think he will get destroyed.Jesus wrote:kahn would get destroyed!

In fact, as far as interesting fights go, I'd love to see Khan vs Judah. That would be fascinating at this point in their respective careers

Typical Golden Boy match up. Could'nt build anything with bucket of fornicating Lego.
If Khan falls for this he must be a complete fool and is putting himself in serious danger. He won't see a fraction of the dough Hatton earned for the same match becauise he doesn't have the following or public adulation the 'Cokehead' had, Id he takes it he is gambling with not only his career but his health. Total madness.

It'll be more competitive than people are giving Khan credit for. Look at the the evidence.
Against Judah, Floyd struggled with a speedy southpaw for the first 5 rounds and was legitamatly dropped in round 2( though Joe Cortez missed it). Corley, another southpaw had him on queer street in round 3 or 4 of their fight. Khan is also a speedy southpaw with decent pop ,but unlike Judah, has shown great heart and mental strength. Floyd Sr has always said he didn't invent the shoulder roll for a southpaw, which is why many say he's scared to fight Manny.
In the fight against oscar, Floyd was bothered by the jab for the first 8 rounds which counteracted his speed and movement. Khan's jab is one of the best in any division.
I'm not for one minute saying Khan will win, but I would wager he will give Floyd a far tougher fight than alot of people are saying he will.

The sign of a really good post is that it really stops and makes you think.. and then forces you to challenge your preconceptions.Newport Daz wrote:It'll be more competitive than people are giving Khan credit for. Look at the the evidence.

Re: Khan v Mayweather early 2011 !
People are saying that Khan would loose because of his vulnerable chin but I think they neglect to mention (a lot of the time) that he would also loose because he's just not as skilled as Floyd.
Re: Khan v Mayweather early 2011 !
who said that? his chin has nothing to do with it...kahn's main asset is speed...mayweather is faster (altough he uses his speed differently) has better reflexes and is a more skillful and better overall boxer.....thats why people are saying mayweather would own kahn...He's Gone Jim! wrote:People are saying that Khan would loose because of his vulnerable chin
Re: Khan v Mayweather early 2011 !
Does anyone on here think that Khan might actually have faster hands than Mayweather? I think its possible.
Re: Khan v Mayweather early 2011 !
so Zab Judah has never shown great heart and mental strength then has he not? Not even against Miguel Cotto?Deserter wrote:The sign of a really good post is that it really stops and makes you think.. and then forces you to challenge your preconceptions.Newport Daz wrote:It'll be more competitive than people are giving Khan credit for. Re: Khan v Mayweather early 2011 !
i have to disagree with that....kahn lets his hands go more and throws combo's and mayweather most of the time only throws 1 or 2 punches at a time (the left hook followed by the straight right seems to be his fav) which is why kahn may seem faster....McCannW14 wrote:Does anyone on here think that Khan might actually have faster hands than Mayweather? Re: Khan v Mayweather early 2011 !
Mayweather keeps telling everybody how great he is, I think he needs to beat boxers like Kahn to prove it. I can't believe everybody is just writing Kahn off, it's not a 50-50 fight (I think there's only the manny pac fight out there that's 50-50) but it would certainly be a great fight to watch.
Re: Khan v Mayweather early 2011 !
How does that take away from the fact the post caused me to stop and think far more about the Mayweather fight? It's a moot point given what I've just said, but against Mayweather Judah definitely didn't dig deep after his initial success and his resorting to fouling definitely hinted at mental fragility.NorthEastBoxingFan wrote:so Zab Judah has never shown great heart and mental strength then has he not? I would also question Judah's heart against Clottey too. An uppercut causes a bad cut and then does his best to get the ref to call it a headbut so it goes to the cards. At this point he's taking a beating form Clottey.
I stand very much corrected on Khan;s stance - dunno how I made the mistake seeing I've been at a number of his fights!

I agree somewhat with this statement. Surely it would be far more lucrative to build Khan up in fights with other light-welterweights such as Bradley, Alexander, Ortiz or Judah before jumping in with a Mayweather. I think Khan has the ability to clean up at light-welterweight.Mayweather is a welterweight. He needs to fight some effing welterweights. There is only one guy I want to see Mayweather fight right now. His name starts with P and ends in "aquiao".
