Makes more sense to me to be honest. Froch Vs Abraham for the WBC adds some extra spice to the fight.

I've said it before and I'll say it again now - there never was an back injury in my opinion, it was a decision taken to achieve exactly this outcome.
While it makes commercial sense for Froch, I still believe he and Hennessey have a moral obligation to do something to look after those fans who lost money after shelling out on flights/accommodation etc to go and support him on the original date.

So, is this a semi final, or is Glen Johnson boxing Green now as part of the final group stages?

last i heard johnson vs green was a group stage 3 fight........what i find confusing is i heard johnson will have 0 points....meaning the winner of the fight could win and still not qualify for the semi's...seems unfair that everyone else (apart from green) has 3 fights to qualify yet johnson only gets 1? letting him have kesslers 2 points would have evened it out abit...

they have both just lost there last fights so how can the be allowed to fight for in my opinion the best belt, Ward and Dirrel should be fighting for it, what a joke.

The real joke is that by discussing the merits of the arbitrary allocation of title match ups (as is the process adopted by each of the big 4 alpha orgs), us fans give credence to the belts.

I noted that prior to this announcement, Froch - Abraham was a WBC eliminator. Given the Super 6 line ups and the likely semi finals, the winner of this fight is most likely to face the loser of Ward-Dirrell (which was originally for the WBC title), with the loser facing the Winner. Therefore, the loser would have been given a shot at the title, as part of Super 6 and the eliminator status of the fight would have been utterly meaningless. It would have meant though that the WBC could have claimed a sanctioning fee without any threat of having to do anything to make the rightful fight go ahead.

The sooner we stop acknowledging these corrupt, good for nothing organisations that are leeching money from the sport, the sooner they might do something about their anti-sporting practices.

WBC rankings:

AD
CF
AA
KP
BM

I'm still scratching my head as to how there is a current "super" WBA champ [other than the obvious one].

Not sure Carl is arsed. I think he wanted to win it back off Kessler. Im sure he would have been proud to wear it after the Pascal fight, but naturally I dont believe he'd be mega excited winning it now after Kessler won it off him.

I think Ward vs Dirrell should have taken the WBC title into their fight as Dirrell is ranked above Froch now and their fight was neck and neck plus Abraham was beaten by Dirrell.

I can only assume that perhaps there is some sort of angle amongst all of this as to why it's now in their fight.

Perhaps they want Dirrell and Ward to score a draw and then both go through.

Or maybe with Saulerand involved, they can get shut of the previously agreed showtime-supplied neutral judges and referee and now get in their favourite 'WBC sanctioned' gang in like Roger Tilleman etc to score the fight.

It certainly is strange, but as rated contenders go Froch and Abraham are as good as it gets. Literally hundreds of boxers have been gifted "world" shots coming off of losses and, even worse, plenty of boxers get title shots because they are very beatable.

'Word' is that the WBC will make a bigger amount off Froch vs Abraham, than the two Andre's who's purses are slightly less.

It was called for by Saulerland. Confirmed by WBC.

They will certainly manouerve their own judges into it for this one.

Let's hope Froch can take the scorecards out of the equation. :box:

If he isn't, somebody on his team definitely is. Hence the phantom back injury.
