More of Colin Hart please - he is a straight talker and us boxing punters like that. You could see the guests had respect for his opinion too - Degale especially.

The show is certainly getting better week by week, there is a more natural feel about it now.

I enjoyed it but felt Adam Smith put Colin Hart and Johnny Nelson in a position where they basically had to say James Degale would beat George Groves.

I was really impressed by Rendall Munroes attitude, just lost the WBC title fight but doesnt seem effected by it & knows he can come back stronger.

The Boxing Hour and Rinsgide are quite different shows. I loved watching the Buncey show. An inexpensive but can't miss show that revolved completely around Steve and his incredible knowledge and enthusiasm. It was fast and furious, full of news - perfect for the hardcore fans. Hopefully Ringside will also satisfy the experts and also bring in some new fans who are flicking through the channels. That's what the sport needs. Talking of Steve, if you look through the old annual team photo's on the back wall at the Fitzroy Lodge A.B.C. - going back before David Haye was a fresh faced pre teen - there's a picture of young Steve on the back row with big hair.

yeah i felt the same

that is by the by .they cant get 100% all the time .

i have bumped my gums about it before and ill say it again ,they need to drop Johnny Nelson .given the volume of guests it could work without him .hes stale and when he does speak he speaks down to the camera

Hey Alba, the idea is that Johnny is a co presenter with Adam, a much more difficult job than it looks. He's an articulate former World champion who also looks the part. The guests will be as varied but relevant as possible. DeGale was obviously there to talk about Groves and then Toney failed a medical so the Saturday show got cancelled. I'm looking forward to Eddie Hearn and Adam Booth squaring up in the studio. That should be fun....

Mark, regarding debates, what do you think would be good? Weight making is an obvious one - 36 hour weigh-ins etc. Who's the best prospect out there.... Is the amateur game too different to the pro's... Scoring.... When to stop a fight.... How to improve safety.... any ideas would be appreciated.

The show is a breath of fresh air. My debut featured on Ringside back in 2003 - I was buzzing as it was on a big Hatton show and wasn't shown on the night.

This time around it's a lot more informal and works great. In my opinion nothing needs to be changed as such and things can always be added. The format works.

Friday night in Paul? I'm writing scripts on the laptop in front of the TV and I guess you're staying in until 11th December! I went to Arnie Farnell's gym in Manchester today, two fights that everyone has an opinion on - Haye / Harrison and Smith v DeGale....

I was going to guest on the Groves fight for Sky so that would have been my only visit 'out of the house' until Dec 11th

Quite simply, Ringside has quickly become essential viewing for UK boxing fans - it strikes a healthy balance between basic information for one fight a month casuals and insight for the hardcore element. The enthusiasm of Adam Smith is a big plus, while Johnny is clearly improving by the show as he becomes relaxed and used to his role.

In terms of a debate section, I thought what worked particularly well about the matchmaking piece was having the likes of Powell and Maloney talking honestly with a bit of self criticism - too much of modern TV is about pretending that you are perfect and never make mistakes - proper mature debate is always good to watch.

Things I'd like to see discussed:

1 - The farcical ABC world title situation - fans would like to see rankings and titlists simplified but does Boxing itself see multi titles as a good thing?
2 - The future impact of GBP in the UK. There's been a lot of talk of Shaefer and de la hoya putting on shows over here - how would this work and what would be the impacts on UK promoters and the TV landscape
3 - Following the excellent interview in Boxing Monthly, Barney Francis would be an interesting guest, so long as the Sky Sports tub thumping was kept to a minimum
4 - How to get the best to fight the best? Haye v Klits, Floyd v Manny even Ward v Dirrell - What can be done to ensure that the best fighters are obliged to fight each other?
5 - What can be done to provide education and post career support to boxers. Too many times you hear stories of boxers going off the rails following the end of their fight career. Is there anything that the sport can do to provide education, training to help fighters. It's something done in many other sports (consider the PFA in football and all the support they provide ex-players).
6 - Despite a burgeoning domestic Heavyweight scene, the global picture remains bleak - there are no hot prospects in the heavy division around the world to the extent there are across all other divisions. Why is this?

one thing that needs to be sorted out is the rankings. they are always shockingly bad. Molitor No.2 Super Bantam? Audley No.3 HW in the UK??

A debate on the cross-over from amateur to pros would be interesting. Some would argue that it is a completely different game, and others would differ. For example, Gerry Storey told me a few weeks ago that it isnt that different, it is all about tactics.

It would be interesting to hear the views on trainers, pros etc on this and it would be informative to constituents of both the paid and unpaid ranks.

I couldnt disagree more - I met him a couple of times and was an absolute gent
