Johnny "King of the gypsies" Frankham
British light heavyweight champion in the seventies, had a few bare knuckle fights apparantly, any thoughts?

Before my time mate but he was mixing in some decent company according to his log. Must have been much better than the other 1000 'King of the Gypsies'.
I do remember his son (at least I think it was his son), Bobby, who had a crazy pro career in 1987 lasting only 10 weeks before he got banned for life.

Bobby is his nephew but we know from history, some of it recent, that they are both a bit dodgy. Johnny was before my time but Mullan regularly described him as talented yet lacking in discipline. He was into all the Muhammad Ali showboating stuff as well, which you either loved or loathed. Johnny looked a bit lucky to get the verdict over Chris Finnegan in the first fight and lost the rematch and drifted away. Ultimately, he is a waste of boxing talent.

It's funny how every gipsy fighter claims to be 'king of the gipsies'.................
