More behind Calzaghe pullout than meets the eye

Last week a leading American paper (I don't know which one, but I'd love to find out) labelled Joe Calzaghe's planned defence of his WBO super-middleweight title "a joke" because of the minor status of his challenger, Mger Mkrtchian of Armenia.
The very next day, Calzaghe pulled out of the fight because of a bout of flu, and a day after that admitted he may never fight Mkrtchian.

flu 3 weeks before he's due to fight its hardly a broken arm is it 8)
