Rose to enter the “Lion’s” Den in Noble effort for English title
By Jamie Albrecht
As the event’s header suggests, Brian Rose will certainly be venturing into the “Lion’s Den” on Sunday 21st November. The Blackpool Light-Middleweight will be attempting to punch his way back into the British title mix when he takes on Barnsley’s Lee Noble for the vacant BBBofC’s English Light-Middleweight championship.
Such a fight (and a win) will be a welcome way to re-establish himself on the domestic scene, as Rose looks to build on his solid comeback performance against Terry Carruthers in September following a shock TKO upset loss against Max Maxwell. When asked about the loss, Rose remained upbeat and highlighted his training as a source of great confidence going into the Noble encounter. “I’ve been using a training method known as plyometrics, which focuses on explosive power and I’m definitely stronger as a result”.
A fight with Lee Noble will also be a journey that covers familiar ground for the Blackpool man, as he previously holds a 4 round points victory over his 23 year old adversary. Rose claims that the longer distance will suit him better, and allow him to win by a more convincing margin than he did last time out “with this fight being over the longer distance, I can relax and get into a rhythm, and hopefully break him down late on, If I don’t get the stoppage however I’m not too concerned, a win is a win”.
Inevitably, talk then turned to a potential rematch with Maxwell, and Rose provided a refreshing response to the question of a rematch somewhere down the line. “The Lion” stated; “To be honest I’ve learnt from what happened against Maxwell to never look past the opponent in front of you, and I’ll never do that again, I have been given a great opportunity in fighting for an English title so soon after a loss, and yeah, if I do win, perhaps we can make a fight with Maxwell to defend against him, but at this point, I’m only concentrating on Lee Noble”.
The fascinating bill at the George Carnall Leisure centre will also feature a number of other bright young VIP boxing stars, such as Kieran Farrell, Warren Tansey, Terry Flannigan, debutants Steve Keay (vs. Jason Thompson) and Gary Barnes (Vs. Lee Jevons) as well as the 2nd outing of Cruiserweight “Irish” Johnnie Ward, who will box Mark Lewis.
TICKETS FOR THE LION’S DEN BILL AT THE GEORGE CARNALL LEISURE CENTRE, URMSTON, ARE PRICED AT £30.00 (GENERAL ADMISSION) AND £50.00 (RINGSIDE)
