Where to now for KATSIDIS THE GREAT

Post by dan h »

First off just let me say - As an Oz boxing fan I couldn't be prouder of Kartsidis. He fights anyone at anytime, anywhere and is happy to step up in class unlike most of our "elite" fighters - save Vic D who is also like Katsidis.

The Question is - where to now? I think it is great how loyal he is to his trainer but I just don't think he can take him any further. No offense intended bu tI think Kat needs to go and work with some american trainers such as Roach to expand his game.

Some of the things his trainer said in the corner had me confused - instructions like "ok the main thing we need to focus on is concentration"? obviously he was concentrating with JMM in front of him, what he needed was some tactical advice on how to avoid the crisp counter punching of JMM, in particular his uppercuts and ruthless body shots.

Again, I am not bagging his trainer, he has obviously done a great job taking him to where he has, but I think it is time to at least bring in some new trainers to help work on defense and fighting from range.

Fair points dan.

As for what next I think he needs a mid level lightweight. He seems happy going to England and whooping the best they have to offer so perhaps someone like John Murray would be the way to go...

It was a brave brave display and Katsidis has shown the world what he is about, also his stock has greatly risen following this display.

Dan, I think you could be right. I think that he needs a extra dimension in his armory, and to do that he needs to base himself in Europe or the States with a fresh team.

Kasidis has absolutely nothing to feel down about, he is now a reconized name in the US and Europe and should have no problem at all securing a next fight. Whether that be Murray or anyone else, as I said before his stock has risen.

it certainly couldnt hurt to learn some defense, look how much difference its made to danny greens game from when he used to have fenech now he has hyder he still can fight like he used to but now he seems to have everything he was lacking as a fighter before.

It is no disgrace to lose to Marquez. Katsidis could still beat most lightweights.

I dont think Katsides would walk away from his trainer but maybe its time for the trainer to walk away and let him be trained by one of the best in the U S.

was a great fight, props to both guys. I agree with marlin, maybe a few fights against mid level American or European fighters to get back in the title hunt. On another note i say if mayweather dosent have the balls to fight pacman, marquez has plenty of em and i would love to see a third fight

Absolute no disgrace in his performance or the result, I would love to see him and Murray in Manchester for the eliminator to Soto's crown (who I think would lose to both Murray and Katsidis) Katsidis still has so much to offer the game!

your right ,he fought a great fight against one of the best, he and his trainer can hold their headsup, another trainer will not change katsidis, he is a fighter, he switches to fight mode and a lot of defence goes out the window ,offense is the better part of defense, he reminds me of flannery and barnes, as you said, no disgrace to be beaten on the day by marquez, at least katsidis is flying our flag high,i wish a couple of bigtimers would take a page out of his book and go knocking on some doors, they have milked plenty of money here, it,s time they aimed up with some top rated boys, all the best
