Bernard Dunne
Bernard Dunne
I saw this kid on Friday night fights on ESPN (shown on Saturday on Channel 5) and although it was the first time i could not really see what all the fuss was about. The ESPN guys constantly referred to him as Ben Dunne but i am sure it is the same guy, He fought a 5-5 guy called Alejandro Ramirez and after a tentative opening round which he lost on the commentators card he was dropped in round 2 by a left hook. He managed to busy himself through the remaining 4 rounds to win a 59-55, 58-55, 58-55 card. He occasionally threw some decent shots against a limited foe but i didn't see any of the dazzling form we have been told about from American observers. I know John Garfield has something to do with him, what are his strengths and weaknesses? Has anyone else seen some more of Dunne and would like to correct my first impressions?

I think he injured his hand in that fight, Steve.steve689 wrote:I saw this kid on Friday night fights on ESPN (shown on Saturday on Channel 5) and although it was the first time i could not really see what all the fuss was about. I couldn't say anything at the time but, yes, BERNARD--which is what he'd much rather be called--injured is right hand in the opening round. He never made any excuses. Neither am I. But I think when you see him return in February, you'll see the fighter you first saw.
