Great atmosphere for the fight and I was gutted he didn't win. Good performance by DeGale to be fair. Maybe Smigga will come on here himself when he's had a rest and decide where he goes next.

What do you guys think will be his next move?

Has he won the Lonsdale belt outright?

If not, I'm sure that'd be his aim now.

I can't see DeGale holding onto that title for too long and going through the process of mandatories etc etc.

Smith & Anderson would be a good match or maybe Groves, both would be interesting.

I've always thought that was his limit. Degale should win lonsdale and then vacate and move on

For a 30 fight career his record has nothing on it, nothing to give me the impresion that he could be above domestic class

I think he should fight Keny Anderson next. I think Groves beats him

look at anderson he was a career 81kg amateur. even degale boxed up at l.heavy as a junior & groves a s. middleweight from 15 years old.smith was a 71kg & not that big when he won his first aba title, ive had argument's with the man himself about what weight he should be.he's sparked a few heavy guy's but that was the likes of steve timms... when he boxed quigley he was fighting a man expierianced of fighting good or better lump's & was strong himself & he forced smith back & quigley is small for the weight & is about the same stamp if not bigger. in smith's next fight he thought a gun shy dodson & was extremely courageous in coming through what he did & winning well, despite all this & smith being a better class his strength's lie in the weight below. macklin & barker could both do 12st & fall at the same hurdle.
i felt sick watching smith get beat like that, i didnt want degale to be that good & he made it look easy & i think strengh was the main factor, i hope smigga can raise his head up take it on the chin & move on, he's a bright lad & will allway's succeed.

I too was gutted last night, but I think that he should take a couple of months off and then look to get back on the title trail. Fights against Quigley, Anderson or Groves (it he wimps out fighting Degale now) and then we will see him back.

I hope he doesn't give in as the support he brings is amazing for the sport. Degale may have been batter last night, but still no one likes him.

I think there is still a lot smith could do on the british scene,and your right no one does like him

Thought Smigga showed he can box last night. Just a shame he was seemed dwarfed by Degale - was like he was fighting a wall.

I think Smigga could go on to win the european at SMW, but think he'd be a lot more suited to MW.

Same here mate. Though he's a been at SM a while - might be hard to get back down there. But against a bigger SMs like Degale he's gonna have a hard time I think.

Smigga is a tough mofo.

Size was a factor last night.

If he continues I would think that Groves would be a natural fight to take. Should take a confidence building fight first but think alot of people would be interested in seeing the comparison. If Groves is manditory for Degale, that would leave Groves title available and it could be contest by Anderson and Smith.

Is the fight available to watch anywhere? Tried u tube but nothing there yet.

I dont think Paul wants to remain at British level, so some international fights then a shot at the Euro seems about right.

Degale is above the British and Euro scene, based on that performance, not quite world class (needs alittle more seasoning) but not far off.

Rematch with Quigley maybe for the English (who's the current English champ) or for a British eliminator if DeGale moves on.

It was his second defence and you need to defend three times to win it outright.

Can't see him wanting that just yet, he's had quite a few tear ups lately. I reckon he'll be in a 6/8 rounder next after a decent break, and then look for another big fight.

Speed was THE factor !

move back to Middleweight. I don't think he was ever a natural Super Middle. 2-3 good wins and a big fight with Macklin or Barker could happen.

i agree but i'm not sure how easily he makes the weight? It was very noticable the different in size and strength to Degale. It is obvious Paul is a tough fella but is small for a supper middle. I like Smith and hope he can re-build to come again.

smiths not made middle for a while now think it would be to big of a cut for him now, if he did the fight with macklin would never happen

You all know I had Smith as the man in this fight, but DeGale just dwarfed him on the night. So, the obvious thing would be to see if he can boil down to middleweight - if not, you wonder whether he might not end up like Kelly Pavlik and Arthur Abraham, too big for one weight and too small for the next...

I'd roll the dice personally. His record is decent on paper and he brings money - find a big international name in need of both, bring them to Liverpool and try to restart with a bang.

i'd have Paul fighting Anderson, then Groves if possible.

i think he can win both. possibly were i his handlers i'd get him in with Groves asap while Groves is still a bit green
