Re: Macklin targets Pirog for world honours
Macklin hasn't been impressing but I'm still a bit ignorant of Pirog. Beat a prospect and nothing more last time out, boxed quite well and an impressive knockout. Will be interesting to see how people call it.

Pirog would smash Macklin up IMO

Not been impressed with Macklin lately. Should stay well clear of Pirog, who I think would ruin him in 6.
Go for one of the Brits or Irish instead.

Re: Macklin targets Pirog for world honours
Pirog is mean and would beat Macklin quite comfortably in my opinion.
Now that's a fight I wanna see, actually Murray against either Macklin or Barker. I don't know why Murray isn't as hyped as either of them 2Chris W 1982 wrote:Macklin v Martin Murray would be interesting.
Re: Macklin targets Pirog for world honours
Was Macklin/Duddy ever talked about? Largely pointless now but just curious.

Yeah, I'm a big Martin Murray fan.
Definitely belongs in the same conversation as Macklin/Barker

Re: Macklin targets Pirog for world honours
i think Smigga would do macklin, too.
Re: Macklin targets Pirog for world honours
I don't fancy any of our lot against Pirog to be honest. Absolute beast.
Re: Macklin targets Pirog for world honours
He's a huge middle, I can see him at super middle before long, maybe even light heavy.
Re: Macklin targets Pirog for world honours
Martin Murray is definately in the mix with them both now. He can really fight, believe me!!Chris W 1982 wrote:Yeah, I'm a big Martin Murray fan.

1. Barker
2. Murray
3. Macklin
Is how I rate the brits right now. That said, they could all beat one another. I'd say Barker has the boxing ability, wheras the other two have a bit more macho about them.
Pirog though, I think is too big and strong for any of the list right now.

Macklin v Duddy on the undercard of Martinez/Lee in Madison Square Garden on Paddy's weekend would be perfect.

Re: Macklin targets Pirog for world honours
Macklin has found his level IMO and I can't see him stepping up to world honours unless he improves dramatically. He's far too inactive defensively when he gets into range and, against better opposition, will find himself getting hit far too often.

Pirog would belt Macklin all over the show, he looked as flat as a pancake at the weekend
Murray is a tough kid with good power, I'd give him a shot at Macklin. Seen him up close a few times and he deserves more exposure.
Barker, as I've said previously, is the best of the bunch from a UK perspective, he's our best chance of world honours IMO.

I respect your opinions hugely Diggler but I think you've got it wrong big time here mate.diggler wrote:murray for me is british level, macklin would beat him 10 times out of 10 as would barker
Re: Macklin targets Pirog for world honours
I can't see the big thing about macklin I cnt see him past European level Murray and barker to beat him and Pirog would smash him to bits.
Re: Macklin targets Pirog for world honours
Really hope this fight happens and that Pirog is half decent odds as I am absolutely certain that he'd destroy Macklin who is a very limited fighter in my opinion.
Re: Macklin targets Pirog for world honours
murray, smith, macklin, barker, quigley, lee or duddy. in a super six ultimate boxer tournament :!: or add pf middle winner & make it gr8
why cant warren make somthing like this & put some readies up & make contender like series. these lad's have tons of honours between them :!:
if i win the euro i'll put prize money up & contact the tv.

Re: Macklin targets Pirog for world honours
I'm not saying Macklin is a world-beater, but I'm surprised at the way no-one seems to be factoring in the reality that plenty of boxers look relatively poor when it's fights they can't psychologically get up for. Correspondingly, if you stop and think back, there are plenty of examples of fighters who've been able to raise their game dramatically when it's come to the crunch.
Look at the way the likes of Eubank and Toney could look appalling at times, but saved their best for their biggest challenges.
For what it's worth, I don't think Macklin would beat Pirog, but let's try and get a bit of perspective here guys - it's not coincidence that Macklin's best performances have been against the fighters who on paper represented his toughest tests, and that his worst performances have come against substitutes and in 'marking time' fights

Agreed. I'm a big fan of Macklin but you're only as good as your last fight. I do feel he can do better than what he showed though. He seemed to be forcing his punches and not letting them flow.
Re: Macklin targets Pirog for world honours
Ive got to agree on that one, pirog humiliated jacobs and they had him labled as the golden boy. In fact alot of people on here and myself included felt he was one of the top prospects. That guy is dangerous.Counter-puncher wrote:Pirog would smash Macklin up IMO
