Will Paul Smith ever post here again?

Post by likethisone »

He didn't seem to take the defeat to Degale well from what I read. He said Degale was average and not very good. But Degale outclassed him in every round. I'm interested to hear whether or not he will come on and give Degale credit for his victory or will he have more excuses?

I'm sure Smith is licking his wounds, obviously the defeat will be hard to take, but he is a big man and i'm sure he will be back in the ring and back here too

Says he'll be back in the ring again in March.

Probably be back on here in the new year.

Paul Smith has nothing to be ashamed about. He's a good fighter and should look to get back in the deep-end with a fight with someone like George Groves, if possible.

Irrespective of whether he does or not he is a top man for coming on here as often as he has

The bigger question is whether or not your going to do one lirva.....

That would be nice

Good fight I think. I know Groves beat him as an Amateur but I think Degale is a different class to George now. I think Smith beats Anderson who gave Groves fits.

I think Degale decision to go to McDonnell is inspired. I think they compliment each other. Jimmy Mac is a work horse who is a good motivator (usually - Danny Williams was so hit and miss). I think James' lazyness was always his downfall as an amateur, and whether its because he has matured as a person - or because he has McDonnell in the ring he seems to be doing his prep now.

Yeah i think the last month has really demonstrated the current difference in levels between Degale and Groves.

I think Smith probably would deal with Anderson.

Yeah, Jim McDonnell is a top little trainer, perhaps a little underrated. After Degale's performance over Smith, im now a fan of his. I cant argue with a fighter who walks the walk in such emphatic fashion especially when they step up a level.

Things change from fight to fight, just like opinions on here. Degale may well beat Groves, but they need to fight so we can find out for sure.

Agreed about Jim McDonnell, he has really done well with chunky and is proving himself as a top British trainer! He wasn't a half bad fight either

i dont agree with you, i think jimmy mac is an excellent motivator and fitness guru...but i dont see any evidence of him being a good 'boxing' trainer. chunkys skills were already in place. in my opinion.

I can imagine that Smigga is staying away from here because he thinks he'll read stuff that will be bad for his state of mind. The posts have generally been quite good, though, I think.

Defeat is a lonely place. No shame in losing to DeGale, He does look like he can back that arrogance up, and after that performance , it feels more like confidence than arrogance. Smigga, you still have a lot of fans here who will follow you until your journey is finished. You will look back in a few years when DeGale has most likely reach the top and think of this differently.

agree, we've been through a similar situation with an Olympian not facing rivals before and it's not good for the sport

Don't write off Smigga. How many would have thought Ricky Burns could have ever been a world champ after he got bashed by Johanesson? Boxing is all about timing. The right champ, no one as quick as Degale, and Smith would have a good chance.

Who is he going to beat for a title in that division though?

Bute? Froch? Abraham? Kessler? Ward? Dirrell? Degale?

All outclass him handily.

Well there's two champions you didn't even mention. And who knows who will be holding the titles in 18 months. After all, whoever wins out of the Super Six winner and Bute will probably move up. If Smith can win say 4-5 in a row, who is to say he couldn't get a shot at one of the belts.

i expect at some point he will come back on, thank the people who have shown support, answer some of the criticisms, and tell us he's working hard towards getting his title back. like the decent fella he is.

from you, i expect the same round of class-less obnoxiousness :TU:
