Cook Waits For Next Bout!

By Clive Girton

World lightweight champion Jason Cook is expected to be back in action and defending his IBO crown sometime in February.
The Maesteg man won the title early last month with a seventh-round stoppage of his Argentinian opponent Ariel Olveira, at Bridgend Rec.
His trainer and mentor Brian Evans said Cook was waiting for a date in February and to be told the name of his next opponent within the next week or two.
But the venue is certain to be Bridgend Rec.
Evans revealed that promoter Barry Hearn is determined that 28-year-old Cook defends his title there even though it only has an 1800 capacity.
"It's a great venue, although many fans were disappointed because they couldn't get a ticket," he said.
"He was back in the gym within eight days and has been concentrating on running over the past weeks."
"He had very bruised hands after the fight. In fact, on the Sunday morning, his left hand was black and blue."
"Thankfully, both the swelling and the bruising has gone and he is back punching the soft ball without any side effects."
