Jimmy says it as he sees it...

Post by bennie »

Jimmy on the boxing addicts site, compares Boxrec with ESB.
"Boxrec is like the sensible older brother," he says, "far more mature and considerably wiser, having said that it is one dull place, I had more of a laugh when I got shot in the leg than I would do there.
"If either place had exclusive rights to 'The Real McCoy' their rating would soar, he's a swinger though, so he's neutralised.

"So what have we got," he continues:

"ESB: Decent layout
Humour
A few decent posters
Plenty of half wits (you know who you are)

"Boxrec: bennie
A general high quality of poster
Extensive boxing knowledge
Severe lack of humour

"I'd say boxrec pips it because of the ESB numbskulls."

There you have it from Jimmy. Boxrec is better than ESB! But we're boring. No sunshine without shadow, I suppose.

It was a funny thread (JC couldn't understand why I went off on one when he calls me gay!).
Like you say, Hardhitters11, there's room for everyone.

Mmmm ..... Jimmy's claiming he's been banned from ESB - he wasn't a few days ago, cause he was posting on the general forum - saying he won't abandon the ship.

Jimmy's obviously been check this place out? I wander if he's got a different alias over here.

Bennie and Real Deal! Although I didn't post over at ESB, I did view the site regularly, I must have missed that thread.

Good luck HH with the site anyway, and Strike - hope you stick around here aswell though. It seems like a damn good site you've got. Format seems very similar to ESB, is it the same owner?

For what it's worth.

I think this site is a far more intelligent place - if it had as many posters as ESB it would be alot better.

The downside of that is that to bump the numbers of posters up you then get all of A-holes too.

Generally I think it's best as it is - less, more informed posters is better than more, less informed posters.

Jimmy generally has an opinion on most things and is generally both amusing and accurate - in this case I think he's wrong.

As far as those claiming it "looks dull"?

Ahhh the MTV generation!!! If it doesn't have flashing graphics I can't stop my attention wandering after about 5 minutes!!!!

They are right though - i mean, page after page wiithout any pictures - That'll never catch on ...................................................... it's like a book.

HH - I tried to sign up, but nobody has sent me an activation e-mail (its been 2 days since I signed up). I know the general perception of boxrec is that we're boring (as Jimmy pointed out) but surely you'd allow me to say a few words.

The "lack of humour" idea must stem from the limited choice of smilies and the fact that you can't give yourself a picture. Cause there's nothing particularly side-splitting going off over at ESB or Boxing Addicts from what I can see.

The only thing this forum lacks is a regular ruck situation. And I'm working on that believe me.

A question I want to ask about boxing addicts. When I'm not logged in, the forum is black and quite eyecatching. But as soon as I log-in to post something, it changes to a dull grey colour (like this forum, I suppose). Does anybody else have that problem?
