Enjoyed the article.

Thanks for posting it.

I would like to go by Sonny's grave if I ever get the chance. Always felt like he was probably a better guy than the projected image.

The father of boxing journalism Pierce Egan wrote all about the tragically short careers (and often lives) of boxing champs. Way back in 1821 the brutal and theatrical playing out of heroic pugilists lives was observed in Egan's Boxiana- their rise from common stock- immediate but temporary fame and riches...exploitation leading to the inevitable fall from grace, anonymity and a return to 'oblivion' (a favourite word of Egan's).

in light of Gary Mason's recent tragic death, we should all spare a thought for boxers everywhere who come almost exclusively from poor or working class backgrounds.

Here is a link to an interesting article from the Las Vegas Review Journal from earlier this year
with some new details about the last days of Sonny Liston.

Well, to hear it from the mouths of Police in Arkansas, he could hardly have been any worse than said projected image.

I wonder if the tall cocktail waitress junkie/prostitute from Caesar's Palace mentioned in the1974 Esquire article
and the cocktail waitress from Circus Circus that boxer Gary Bates mentions in the 2011 newspaper article,
that he brought over to Liston's house a few days before he was found dead, were one and the same person?
If so,what does she know?
Is she still alive?(she would be about 73 years old now)
Does Gary Bates remember her name?
Will someone here try and contact Gary Bates to contact her for an interview?

I wonder if anyone ever interviewed the ex-Las Vegas cop who was incarcerated in Carson City nevada, who had claimed 20 years ago, that he
was approached by Ashe Resnick to knock off Sonny Liston?

Too many 'loop holes' to close.
But is he really dead? I think I just saw him down at the 7/11
