Well done to Joe. Well deserved.
Re: British Trainer of the year
Disagree gotta be Mccraken! Gallagher has done well with Murray but he's watched macklin get beat up twice so that deserves to be trainer of the year? I ran to co op in 8.6 seconds today I recon I should win the award for sprinter of the year!

Well done Joe! great year for you 2010, 2 European titles Macklin & Murray, Crolla came from behind to beat Andy Morris for the English title + exciting pospects in Joe Murray & Mark Heffron looking the part. Im sure you'll get a world title this year and keep the winning run going.

Re: British Trainer of the year
Congratulations Joe!
Doesn't he have a ridiculously good undefeated record with his fighters? Sure he's a relatively new/young trainer but considering the class his fighters have mixed in(british and european title level), that takes some going and speaks volumes about his abilities as a trainer. Reckon he's got another champion not far on the horizon in Joe Murray......

British Trainer of the Year:
Just over two years ago, Kerry Kayes handed over the keys of Billy Graham’s CNP-sponsored Phoenix Gym to Joe Gallagher, the space was renamed Gallagher’s Gym and became the home of a remarkable achievement in 2011 when Gallagher moved to 41-0 as a trainer – this run saw him nudge ahead of Enzo Calzaghe’s 40-0 record.
Gallagher’s run includes British, European and English title fights as well as a stack of amateur crowns. Still, the trainer is not satisfied, he recently told me that he will not rest until that winning record includes a world title win or two. Both John Murray and Matthew Macklin are highly rated and awaiting breakthrough fights, Gallagher believes that both boxers will bring home world titles in 2011 to keep that remarkable streak chugging along.
Joe has guided John and Joe Murray throughout their entire pro careers, Matthew Macklin is back in the fold, Anthony Crolla is firing and there are the likes of Liam Cullen, Mark Heffron and Danny Randall on their way through.
Maintaining a long undefeated run across different levels is a commendable achievement; an apt reward for the work put in by Gallagher and Kerry Kayes, experienced cuts man Mick Williamson completes the team.
Re: British Trainer of the year
Good post Terry,
It is a tough call - personally, I just would have edged it to Billy Nelson but no doubt Gallagher has had a remarkable year as have many other trainers.
Its good times for British boxing.

Re: British Trainer of the year
MCracken obviously draws comments as he trained Froch to the biggest and best win by any Brit this year (v Abraham) but I agree Gallagher's run cannot be ignored, terrific effort. Well done Joe...no easy feat that, in fact it's staggering.

Re: British Trainer of the year
I'm a big fan of Joe and if it was over the last 3 years fair enough but Murray and Macklin have had better years than 2010 and are both very talented naturally. I believe Shannon squeaks it because who expected big things for Arron, Vassell and, most significantly, Matt Hattton? His raw material was clearly weaker than Joe's but his trio have all improved THIS YEAR (Murray et al have improved over their time with Joe but not this year especially) , won rather than defended titles and each had the finest year - by far - of his career. Gallagher in 09 but for me 10 was Bob's year.
Re: British Trainer of the year
Congrats Joe. Hopefully catchup at John's next fight.
All the best.
