Obviously, the Rees match didn't happen last night - but still I remember a thread discussing the possibilty of Gomez vs Rees for the vacant WBO belt.

I don't think Corrales vs Casyamayor II will be for the title to be honest, and even if it is I can't see either (and it should be Casyamayor again) staying around the devision for too long.

Warren has promised Gomez a world title fight - this will be it (I predict).

I've only seen Rees when he's been fed with journeyman, so i don't know how this one would go. It would be a big step up for him though.

Not neccessarily to fight Gomez (although it would be a step certainly) but to have the WBO belt then defending it against world class fighters (the division is hotting up).

Gomez-Lear would be a decent rematch, Gomez is desperate for revenge and Lear seems to have disappeared off the radar since that win. What happened to that guy? According to Boxrec he has not fought since 14th September 2002! Has he retired?

Lear suffered a shoulder injury in training, an old injury that required an operation and really took its time to clear up. He has been working as a binman, things have been so bad for him. But now it looks like he's got the green light to fight again and will be back soon. Make no mistake, Lear can fight. The Gomez win in Manchester doesn't half look bad now, does it? But he needs a couple of eight-rounders before even considering going in with him - or anyone - again. If he jumps straight into a title defence, he's committing boxing suicide.

I got told off for saying that Lear was boring elsewhere - so anyway -

"how boring is that Lear fellow then, eh?"

I don't think that Rees will beat him but am hoping so.

I see Rees as one of the "little guys" who fights like a "big guy" (A la Dale Robinson) a flat footed come forward type. He is a pretty solid puncher but not a genuine puncher - good at cutting the ring down and throwing plenty - takes too many IMO.

I think Lear will outpoint him and carry on boring his way through more decisions.
