Ringside idea...... Opinions?

Just thinking a few things that would be interesting on ringside.
Something similar to top gears list of the fastest laps ringside could make a circuit of some sort and let fighters attempt it while they are in camp and make a list of the quickest.

Also maybe for a laugh add one of they punch bag machines into the studio and let guests try it. Lol.

I like the shows current informative style but a wee 5-10 mins a week of humour/friendly competition could be interesting also!

I don't know if the fighters would be upfor the circuit thing but I agree it needs more humour. I honestly think Adam is a bit wooden as a host and that Moore, Spencer and Johnny could carry the show on their own and be more natural doing it. I think Adam looked pretty oafish throughout the Wladamir K interview. I love the show but it's simply due to being starved of such shows for years. I think Ed Robinson has a funny style of reading his lines, which can often be hillarious. I hope Steve Bumce never appears on it, after three shows I couldn't watch anymore of his boxing hour.

Perhaps Im in the minority with my views though?

I really like Adam Smith I think he's a really good host, I agree Moore and Oliver should be on it more they really know their stuff! I totally agree that a bit more humour would do brilliant for the ratings

How about each week, a celebrity guest boxer has to come on the show, get in the ring with Adam Smith, and sees how long it takes him to knock Adam out ?

Johnny Nelson can be time keeper, and the fastest and most spectacular KO of the month gets a prize?

Agreed, love the show but some more humour would be great it's a bit dry as it is at the moment. More kind of Soccer AM/Top Gear style humour. Though some of Soccer AM is utter gash.

The set is very small, I don't think you'd be able to set up a circuit. Those punchball machines are fun but no way would you want a professional boxer hitting one without bandages and a glove. I agree Ringside might benefit from some fun competition. It would have to similar to the cross bar challenge on Soccer A.M. something that could be filmed around the gyms each week and wouldn't run too long. Very open to suggestions....

Stick the machine in a van then and take it to the gym whilst the fighters are in camp and they can wear gloves. Lol
My idea of the circuit came up watching the cross bar challenge this morning, just some suggestions anyway.

Not taking anything away from the show, think most people will agree that it's a great watch already but some humour etc will open it up to more people.

This isn't really a ringside idea but Idea but I'd love to see the hbo 24/7 series on sky before a big fight. Love those types of shows

I just want to see good fighters on there chatting about their careers. Not interested in gimmicks really. Note the refernces to Soccer AM, but football is a game which is played. Nobody plays at Boxing.

I think the show is very good as it is. Could have a wider pool of exfighters on it though.

Anyway back to the point, Ringside is a breath of fresh air and I look forward to it now each week. The format depends on the quality of the guests for insight and it's been absolutely outstanding at times in that manner - getting Klits manager on the line when Booth was on was fantastic (why not do that with Booth and FW!!!!), this week McGuigan and Hatton were tremendous, Cleverly is a great shout, Smigga after the announcement of the DeGale fight was great, and DeGale being on too -

would be great to see rivals on the same show if they would agree it - Clev and Bomber, Steve Foster Jr and Ricky Burns, DeGale and Groves etc - obviously doubtful but it would certainly be great TV. Those moments of Benn and Eubank in the 80's on the same shows were absolutely classic.

building those rivalries in public can only be good for the game and make those fights even bigger

Be great to get some of the best trainers in the country on too (and internationally)

The programme gets better and better - excellently put together and a must for any fight fan.

Years gone by Sky would have no way mentioned fighters that were not fighting on their channel - it was if they didnt exist - now they do and that shows for me the biggest improvement of all.

I am hoping some **** at Sky doesnt pull the plug on this programme and its here to stay - they should give more work to Robinson - knows his stuff and doesnt merely gush at things like some I could mention.

I'd like to know why when adam smith and johnny nelson asked the American journalist about OUR british world champions only the 3 english champions were mentioned! was there a specific reason for this?or does a scottish world champion not count

I agree with Billy Nelson, what's that about? Ricky featured prominently on some of the US websites like the ring for his courageous victory so no like Dan R wouldn't have been aware of him.

Dan has been very vocal about Haye in the past. Haye is also with American based Golden Boy, as is Khan - who just had that thrilling fight in Vegas, with no opponent announced for his next fight finalised. Froch is in the Super Six and could end up fighting Ward - just more to talk about from Dan with them. I haven't seen the new Ringside coz I don't have sky. But here goes.

1. Celebrity boxing fans on the show - our sport needs more exposure.

2. A speedball or skipping competition (around the gyms) - most in 30 seconds.

3. A prediction league for up coming fights - featuring boxers past and present, other sky presenters and celeb fans.

4. Boxing question before the break, answer afterwards.

5. Knockout of the week/month footage top 3.

You'd be lucky to get active boxers to hit a punch bag machine.

That, along side with arm wrestling are massive no no's for potential injuries.

It dosent need humour,its a magazine show not a variety.if they added the boxing punch bag machine i think it.would cheapen the show...leave the comedy to.ricky hatton on his stand up show.and keep.ringside to.its current format

No. It's a rubbish idea. Boxing does not have the airtime that football or cars do. So I would prefer the show to be serious.

The only thing I like is the punch bag machine; but as fighters are so competitive and may be out of training etc. It is a little unfair/degrading on the fighters and reduces the seriousness of their sport.

The new show format is great. It really works. It is quite punchy and fast moving. This weeks edition was a prime example, given the lack of boxing at the moment. I'm sure there are many people employed by Sky who are better placed than me to comment on ideas for the show, but I think some of the things mentioned here could come across as a bit gimmicky - things like Top Gear style boxer comparisons, punch balls, etc might be a little diverting but would not really add much in the long run.

I really don't like Dan Rafael, but having a regular spot for informed views from the US is actually quite important. It can be used to shine a light on some of the goings on stateside that UK viewers may not know too much about (man in the street UK viewers will likely not have heard of the likes of Tim Bradley and Devon Alexander). Another benefit of someone like Rafael regularly broadcasting to a UK audience may be that he is forced to pay more attention to UK fighters which may in turn dampen some of his anti-Brit bias.

British boxing has a great list of characters to draw on when it comes to guest spots - Hatton and McGuigan are prime examples. Its been good to see a varied guest list and not the same faces over and over. I'd be interested to hear from some of the refs - Mickey Vann or Dave Parris would have some interesting insights, I'm sure. Also been impressed with the engagement with other media outlets - someone mentioned earlier how BN, BM, Sky and the Internet need to pull in the same direction for the sake of British boxing and there certainly seems to be more of that than previously.
