HERE COMES DOUBLE TROUBLE SENT FROM THE OFFICE OF FRANK MALONEY

JAMIE and Gavin McDonnell will have fans seeing double when they box at Doncaster Dome on Saturday night (22nd Jan)

For, they are identical twins and apart from close friends and family it is impossible to tell the 24-year-old pair apart.

Jamie (15-2-1) is one of British boxing’s rising stars and defends his European bantamweight title against Belgian Stephane Jamoye (19-1) on the Sky Sports televised show.

He said: “When Gavin made his professional debut last month I was more nervous watching him than I get for my own fights.”

Featherweight Gavin (1-0) who quit boxing eight years ago after just five amateur fights got the bug again after seeing his brother’s amazing success.

Gavin who faces Chuck Jones on Saturday's card said: “I watching Jamie and thinking ‘I can do that’.

“I would have always been kicking myself if I had become too old and not given boxing one serious go. I am young enough.

“I have seen the praise and congratulations Jamie has got over the last year, but it becomes funny because people come up and think I am him.

“I want some of that praise myself, but you have to earn it.

“I might not get the same success as Jamie, but I am determined to get some success. If I achieve half as much as him I’ll be happy.”

Former British champion Carl Johanneson (29-4) continues on the comeback trail and is up against South Shields George Watson (8-2-2) in an eight rounder.

Sheffield middleweight Liam Cameron (7-0) is one of British boxing’s most talked about talents and face Leicester’s durable Lester Walsh over six rounds.

Among the other hopefuls on the card is Sunderland’s big hitting Glenn Foot who bids to make it a hat-trick of first round wins when he face Birmingham’s Dee Mitchell (9-11) who has been stopped once in 20 fights.

Tickets for this bumper night of boxing, priced £60 and £30 are available from www.frankmaloney.com and 0871 226 1508

No mention of Tommy Coyle. He looked really good on the last Donnie bill I was at. Will be keeping an eye on him again on this bill
