Degale v Groves Purse Bids

Post by BillyTKid »

I see this is set to go ahead on Feb 9th. I can see a situation similiar to Barker v Macklin where details are sorted and then Groves swerves to fight a dimished 'name' in the US. How do people see this playing out? Will the fight happen this year?

Carnt see it happening yet to be honest, think groves is down to fight in Vegas in march so it won't happen around then. Degale will prob fight someone else before on warrens next big bill.

Both fighters have to be ready to fight as early as 21 days after the purse offer.

I agree Mr Hurlock :) Degale is at least a proven level above Groves and is rising fast. If it did come off then it'd be entertaining as George has guts, power and ambition but Degale would get to him in the ranges he's least comfortable with. I think even George knows that there is a gulf; I'm pretty sure I saw something on telly where he said they'd made an offer to keep his name in the mix. Paul Smith vs George groves would be some bout though once Paul has rested. That'd be an old fashioned shootout between 2 solid men.

i dont think degale is level's above groves.he just utilise's his strenghs far superior & has a proper boxing coach who has added to him & gave him technique suitable for proffesional boxing,unlike adam fitness first booth.

Groves should avoid DeGale for at least a year or two. Groves still is behind DeGale, that looks quite clear I don't think Groves would have dispatched Smith so comfortably like DeGale did.

A lot of it comes down to both fighters last fights. Degale looked good, and Groves struggled a bit. No one sticks to an opinion on here, people's minds change from fight to fight. Degale would obviously be the favourite now, but that doesn't mean Groves can't/won't win. For me it's a fight that should happen this year. People always seem to think fighters should wait to maximize the financial potential down the road, but nine times of of ten the fight doesn't end up happening. It's a grudge match, make it happen already.

Great matchup if it happens, 2 young, hungry and real prospects both have been heavily tipped to go really far in the game! I wouldn't bet against DeGale he is such a class act, I believe his combinations would be too fast for Groves leaky defence, but if Groves could get behind that jab and unsettle DeGale using the jab to set up combinations then it could be a very intrueging battle!

I have thought for a long time DeGale is a much classier prospect than Groves. Would always pick DeGale in this fight even a year ago.

I don't see why Frankie will block this fight, as DeGale beats him 10/10 for me. Groves is super overrated.

Groves = biatch!!!!!!

Another Booth/Haye dodgem brought to you by the hand that feeds them - SKY.

If they both keep winning then Sky Box Office will show it in 2 or 3 years time - good money for all and an easy win for Chunky

Would really love to see that. I think Smith can beat him too. Groves should give it a year or so before going in with Degale IMO.
it really makes me laugh, one minute smigga is on the verge of a world title in 2011 now his being used as a test for groves to compare himself to degale, i wouldent blame smith for taking the fight although im sure his aware its a double or nothing gamble but what makes me laugh is 6 months ago, yes 6 months ago most people on this forum fancied groves to beat degale and now degales beaten smith and groves makes hard work of anderson all the tables have turned again.
groves will beat smith in a good fight, and degale will beat groves easy, and waiting 2 or 3 years wont make any diffrence, i know we all dream of a eubank benn watson collins erra again but its not happening with these guys.

Looks like its not Degale then
