Nice one. I saw it similarly to you in that it wasn't the great robbery some claim it to be.

Here's another request, since I watched it recently for the first time:

Toney v Tiberi

I had it 116-112 Tiberi, including his points deduction, meaning for me he only lost three rounds and drew one. Terrible decision.

Not the robbery it's made out to be IMO, I thought De La Hoya knicked it but it was fairly close I think I had it 115-113 but there was a couple rounds you could of given Tito.

it was a very close fight because of the lack of action , some gave tito rounds because he was the one chasing.

on the dvd of the fight i have , its a recorded HBO version so they show the official judges scorecards after each round.

there should have been a rematch though

I've always thought Trinidad- De La Hoya was a classic case of being swayed by the commentary on tv.
I say this because back when the fight happened I think it was on Sky Digital, which hardly anyone had but one kid I knew's parents had it and they let a few of us stay over to watch the fight, on the condition we were all real quiet because it was on in early hours etc.
So we watched it with the fight pretty much on mute and everyone in that room scored it for Trinidad, apart from one of my mates who begrudgingly scored it a draw but he was a big fan of De La Hoya's and it pained him to think The Golden Boy had been beaten.
We taped the fight as well and a couple of days later I watched it back, with volume turned up, and the commentary made it seem as though De La Hoya completely outclassed Tito for the first 9, then cruised the last 3. Cant remember who did the Sky commentary or if they used a HBO feed, but it felt like a completely different fight.
The controversy that followed the decision seemed to go with the commentary consensus that Oscar was robbed, but I've always thought that opinion was far too harsh on Tito and I genuinely had him nicking the fight.

great post davey

i have now scored this fight twice and came up with the same score

when watching the fight live on sky all those years ago i had it 115-114 tito and when i watched it on my tito career set which had hbo i had it 115-114 tito again.

i cant remember how the sky guys scored it but hbo had it a draw 114-114 (ledermen) and 115-114 (merchant)

just did the toney vs tiberi fight mate...excellent fight im glad i watched now

i had it a little bit closer as you will see in the blog but i still think tiberi was a clear winner , its also amazing that 2 of the judges were unlicenced in New Jersey.
