Current/former world champions to have used this forum?

Post by johnswan1 »

It is great that we have so many current and former boxers using these forums. Most UK & Irish boxers now under the age of 25 would use some form of social networking, be it Facebook, MySpace, Twitter and/or Boxrec, but how many current or former (WBC, WBA, IBF or WBO) world champions have posted on here?

I don't remember anything from Hatton, Witter, Haye, Calzaghe, Enzo, Froch, Woods or Khan being posted on here before, and there are no other former champions I can recall having been here.

Does anybody else know of any, and if not, what Boxrec posters could potentially become a world champion within the next few years? Straight off the top of my head I'm thinking Gavin, Brook and Bellew. Any others?

Any why is it that the most high profile fighters don't appear interested in engaging on these forums? Is it because a higher profile attracts more trolls and ass kissers, or do some of them somehow see themselves above it, having already reached the higher levels of the profession?

There could be an element of that, but you also have to consider it a numbers game; of hundreds of British boxers we have only 4 current champions.

Didn't Shannon Briggs post on the current scene for a while? Stacy Goodson led him here apparently.

David Haye (I think), Evander Holyfield and James Toney all have.

And no, I'm not telling you what their usernames are.

Think a lot of the top level guys - Calzaghe, Froch etc aren't massive fans of the sport, so have better things to do then come on here.

There also might be an element of them having proved themselves therefore they don't feel the need to engage with us and our opinions.
