Does anyone remember Angel Vazquez?
He was a Puerto Rican featherweight based in Hartford CT. Was a top 10 contender in the mid 90s. very very strong, excellent condition, fast handed but hit like a light heavyweight. Never got a big fight as he was too dangerous and lacked the right management, believe Artie Pelullo had him but Artie had no mojo back then. Plus AV was hard to promote as he spoke no English and he just didn't have a fan base. He was prime when Naz Hamed and Kelley were on top and I think would have stopped them both. Eventually all the small fights got to him and he overriped on the vine and lost. But at his best he was a monster and one of the most impressive featherweights I ever saw. Shame he never made it big, this happens to quite a lot of talented fighters. Angel Vazquez -- does anyone have any memories of him and what he's up to now?

His power carried him through his early fights but at some point he began to be unable to land his shots due to better competition and started losing...I remember he was strong and powerful and i thought for sure he was headed for a title shot and was dissapointed that he just fell away from the sport....

I do remember him. He was streaking and was looked upon as a threat but then suffered an unexpected loss and that was that bubble burst.
Not sure if he was as good as the hype. Naz certainly matched him for speed and power. Probably surpassed him for both, actually.
