Does Hatton have to vacate?
If he does my guess is Leonard Bundu (Main Chall.) vs. Jackson Osei Bonsu in Italy.

Re: Hattons European title
Interesting - well firstly we will have to see if Hatton has to vacate - he's just fought his mandatory so I guess not (probably why he keeps calling at a win-win situation). I hope a defeat against Alvarez doesn't affect his positioning too much at Welterweight.
Another thing could be when they need a champion. I could see McCloskey losing to Khan - blaming the weight and stepping up to a EBU title fight.
I don't think Lauri will fight at Welter, not when mandated at Light Welter. Watson being involved is a good call also.
On a side note - when was there last time there has been a world title challenger so written off before - especially against an unproven 20 year old. Hatton is even more written off than Burns, Munroe and Booth.

Stu - he would have to vacate to fight for the title. Can't remember where I read it but he does.
Possibility for Kell Brook or is he focused on waiting for a world title to become vacant?

Re: Hattons European title
Brook should grab the opportunity with both hands if it comes along. Holding on to the #1 spot with the WBO is pretty much pointless at present. The European title would get him ranked with the other organisations where the IBF and WBA are potentially winnable title fights.

It is my understanding that the belt is automatically considered vacated once the bell sounds for the first round of a world title fight.Deno1986 wrote:Does Hatton have to vacate?

Re: Hattons European title
That's what I thought actually, as they were complimenting him for taking the risk.diggler wrote:sure it was on ringside that he has to vacate, would like to see brook v watson but cant see frank and the hattons working together
Re: Hattons European title
I was pretty sure you always have to vacate the euro for a world title fight - Harrison had too , so did sosnowski.
Is mcloskey having to give up his?

According to EBU rules - a champion has to vacate the title if he takes a World title challenge - even if it's in a different weight category. I saw Craig Watson at the show last week and he hoped he'd box the kid who beat him on the Continent in a rematch for the belt. I've always been a big fan of Watson - he's an old fashioned fighter.
