Boente says: It might be Vitali instead.

Post by Cyclops »

Just googled 'Haye Klitschko' out of habit. Here's the latest in the saga: A BBC article quoting Klitschko manager Bernard Boente. Apparently Haye has "relaxed" his stance on only fighting Wladamir, and if Wlad's recurring "injury" is not fully healed by July, then Vitali might step in. It's probably more gumpf to keep us talking about it, but I have always said Vitali-Haye would be a better fight, because Vitali would be less wary of Haye's power than Wlad. Vitali doesn't have the one punch power of Wladamir either, so Haye would probably come forward more. I can see Wlad and Haye circling each other and not a lot happening to start with. I don't think that would be the case with a Vitali fight.

He also says the venue might not be Germany, but has ruled out Britain and the US. That's kind of out of order. I'd love to see this fight live but I know none of my mates will be able to afford to travel and I would struggle to fund it. If it was in Britain I know a lot of lads who would be up for going. It's a shame to completely rule out Britain if the venue is flexible!

Looks like Hayemaker have given the Klitschkos everything they wanted. Here's a link:

The fact that he could face either brother is very dodgy in my book. The brothers are different fighters so Haye will have different game plans for them. What's to say that nearer the time Wlad & Vitali just think 'let's f him up a bit' and Wlad pulls out with an injury 2 weeks before the fight leaving Haye little time to adapt?

Now I've heard this today, I'd be willing to bet this is what will happen. Wlad has this current "injury" to fall back on, after all

They should always have been treated as separate fighters but they've been allowed to get away with murder by putting those 're-match my brother clauses' in. Like most people on here have been saying, i'm not going to believe this is happening until they're both in the ring

It's mind games I guess. If Haye knows he could fight either guy, then you're right: he'll have to train for both of them. That's a lot of added pressure. I expect it will be Wladamir (I really don't buy the injury crap) but this is the first in a long line of psych-outs their going to play on each other.

I can't wait for the press conferences: gonna be hilarious!

After this latest twist, I am not entirely convinced Wlad is up for this fight.

Me thinks Vitali will get the call, which is fine, as he has more bottle and will actually try to 'fight' Haye, as opposed to bricking himself and fighting waaay too defensive.

Haye - Vitali is a very good fight, tough, tough fight for Haye. Again credit to Haye, as he is willing to take on either. He wont get credit on these boards, not that it matters.

I think Wladamir is having a real long think about whether he wants this fight now. Who has he been in with that has been a real threat to him? Even when he lost, it was to fighters he was supposed to beat. A lot of people are giving Haye a chance now. Has Wlad been in that position before? Vitali has been in with Lewis, and more than held his own. He will always take confidence from that fight, despite it being a loss. Haye-Vitali will be a proper fight. Vitali is not a cagey fighter like his little brother. The Wladamir fight is the better sell commercially, because Vitali is older now and has declined slightly, while Wlad is in peak form, has more belts and is consensus champ. But I like Vitali better as a fighter still and I like this fight better. Vitali is aggressive and will force the fight. I think that will bring out the best in Haye. I think their respective styles gel and make for an exciting contest.

He'll get too much credit from about 50% of the board and not enough from the other half.

Mate, I've been on that train of thought since last year.

In all honesty though I think Haye would beat Wlad. But Vitlai beats Haye in my book.

This may be a coincidence but I got a pressed yesterday for Klitschko Adamek in Sept and it had a picture of Wlad on there. Not Vitali. And didn't mention first names.

Adamek was interviewed on the Judah broadcast Poncey and he was talking about Wlad. My bet? Wlad's 'injury' continues to trouble him and it will be Haye-Vitali, providing Vitali emerges relatively unscathed vs Solis — and yes Benny, makes you wonder, doesn't it. When he was on Ringside Boente was asking Haye 'why not Vitali?', if you remember. I get the feeling they're a bit worried about Wlad vs Haye so they'll slip the big brother bruiser in first if they can. If by any chance Vitali pulls out vs Solis, it's nailed on what they'll do IMO.

Well he's signed to fight either one too, hasn't he? Theoretically could either brother fight both of those fighters in the same time frame? If Wlad fought Haye and beat him late june, early july, could he be ready to fight Adamek in September? He was supposedly going to fight Chisora and Haye in a similar time period. So neither Haye nor Adamek will know which brother they'll be fighting and will have to train for two different, very difficult styles. A good way to confuse your way to a psychological advantage over your two best available opponents. I imagine Wlad and Vitali already know which one of the two fights Haye. I suppose the answer to who fights Adamek lies in who wins the Haye fight. Even then, who knows? Not silly, those boys are they?

I wonder what a Solis victory would do to the equation? Not much I suppose, seeing as Haye and Adamek are signed to fight the Klitschkos, and not him. I don't suppose they can get out of their contracts as easily as the Klitschkos seem to be able to get out of theirs, in the unlikely event that Solis becomes 'champ'.

Stuff like this really winds me up. Wlad will lose a lot of respect if he fucks this up, I know there's no way of knowing but I don't believe for a minute that wlad is 'injured'

It's like somebody else said on here could you imagine federer and nadal avoiding each other in the tennis. Just wouldn't happen.

Shaggy if you get it through Jon you're covered if this does get delayed/cancelled. I learnt my lesson with June 09.

Also meant "presser", not "pressed". That would be weird.

Look at what I'm become. I used to be respected, now I'm just a degenerate who urinates in sinks and wipes his member on curtains. The moral of the story is never knock back an MBE if she fancies a bit. Close your eyes and think of England.

It's like a fornicating soap opera this! And I thought the Mayweather v Pacquiao negotiations were a farce.

Once somebody finally manages to get Haye and a Klitschko in the ring ready to fight, the promoter will have to hire one of those Russian death squads to take aim if one of them tries to pull out.

Maybe Manny might take some of this onboard now and start doing joint negotiations with Donaire. Arum would be proud as punch to announce a fight of Floyd Mayweather (no jnr or snr moniker) v a Philipino

Very WBE. I wouldn't be surprised if Haye got to the ring only to discover that Wlad had a secret clause allowing him to tag Vitali if things get to rough in there. Like a tag team match, only with one tag team.
Haye knocks Wlad down, he tags Vitali who then gets into the ring and proceeds to smash Haye with a ringside chair then a massive cage descends on the ring. I can see it now.

All credit to David Haye if this all comes off. Win lose or draw he will have lived up to his words and in fact he now has a chance to reach his full potential or be destroyed trying. He has the chance to be great.
