is it a sky pundits disease-growling forced delivery?

Post by Bricks »

Wtf is wqrong with johhny nelson tonight he seems to be growling and forcing his delivery.....of course adam smith does this when commentating and glen mcrory invented it.....its bloody annoying and i honestly dont know how much more i can take......i might just miss the main event before it happens for nelsons growling gravelly shouting voice
also why is nelson talking over mcguigan like a man possessed...........cant these guys have some respect for the viewer and talk in an orderly calm manner instead of squabbling to get their voice heard?

Dave Darts just said Vitali's defeat of Briggs was one of the best of his career. Hmmm. At least I think that's what he said. The growling and interrupting was putting me off

I think Johnny sees Barry as a rival for his job, bit like Andy Townsend on ITV football, feels he has to appear more enthusiastic.

I thought they where both shocking. I'd like to see more of Jamie Moore, especially when it was a local show to him.

snap! u read my mind. nelsons body language is exactly like andy townsend....both sit coiled up like a springwith tension ready to get in a generalised company man remark, u feel like telling them to relax and do a proffesional job

it was like nelson felt threatened by mcguigan. its clear nelson feels like the alpha male of the telecast what with his closeness to adam smith.......maybe he remembers the 90ks and early 2000s and how barry was the ultimate in bitchy snidey rude punditry the way he talked over everyone else but demanded all the airspace and how he got gary mason the sack by constantly winding him up.......u cant blame nelson for being threatened by mcguigan...........barry is under manners now......humiliated by his spell in the wilderness after he left sky to go to itv and that went pear shaped.........but nelson nows barry may just be biding his time regaining strength before he can challenge the othwer pundits again........

C'mon lefty we dont want to take food off anyones table......but i do agree nelson has a very lispy slurred blurry voice on ringside and it takes an effort to hear him.....im incined to give the man the benefit of the doubt and conclude its begginers nerves and his microphone isnt adjusted right....he has improved a lot....and certainly does as good a job as gary linaeker in his early wooden motd days....and is miles better than say a mark bright.....the biggest issue i have with nelson is he seems very humble and a nice guy.....which isnt helped when he doesnt ask the hard questions....i sometimes feel he doesnt get the respect his stellar career deserves...when he meets a klitchko u almost feeel wladimir doesnt know he was a champion.....nelson needs to be a little more confident....he was a excellent british world champion.....and he sure as hell would have done better against a klitchko in the early 2000s than a bum like solienes

Get rid of McGuigan.

Far, far too opinionated and all he does is tell us what we already knew. Don't like his style or his opinions, just states the obvious.

Hated the way he used to bully others ie Mason, in order to make himself look better.

What comes around, eh?

Yeah mate, but everytime I listen to him I am thinking,' Yeah, but I know that'.

I dont mean that in an arrogant 'I know all...' way, I simply mean he tells us the most obvious stuff that any half decent boxing fan knows.

Never find anything he says interesting, at all.

Jim Watt is far, far more informative and actually offers solid opinions and can offer something different like sensing changes during a fight, for example.

Horses for course, I guess. :TU:

None of them are as bad as Adam Smith. He is probably the worst commentator / interviewer I have ever had the misfortune of watching. His voice, his growling, his slow (crap) delivery...aaaah!!!

I can see what you're getting at but mcguigan is definietly better than the likes of nelson, mccrory and piper even with his faults!Ha.I agree on jim watt though,he gets alot of stick from some quarters but on the whole he knows his stuff and doesnt kiss ass too much like certain pundits/commentators do you know.

I think we need an urgent ban of the phrase "it's all about levels".

Yeah, but you're saying that because you're beyond it, Nobby...it's all about levels, you see.

McGuigans biggest problem always has been and it still is, that he is his paymasters puppet.

He was excitedly praising the fact that Solis came in great shape before Saturdays debacle.

I'm looking forward to Adam Smith telling us 'Now that is what prizefighter is all about and 'This is what prizefighter means to these guys' this week!!!!

Aren't they all? Just Barry had to have Solis this time because he got Haye when Nelson had Harrison.

It's as overused as "boss" or "ruler" in written articles.

I can't read a single piece without "middleweight boss" or "light heavyweight ruler" appearing in the first paragraph.

The excellent joe rogan first used the "its all about levels" phrase, and at least he qualified it when talking about grappling by saying it was only when u competed that u realised how many different levels there are............

I always wonder why barry hasnt had a hair transplant like frankie maloney. Barry would have more authority with a moustache and hair.........the ironic thing is with his high pitched delivery mcguigan is the only one who could do with a quick sky course in growling forced deliveries.......

Jim Watt, in terms of the insight he brings, outclasses the lot of them.

Johnny Nelson is an over excitable shill. He jabbers on like a child who's just consumed a bag of sugar. Maybe they're giving him too many expressos - he needs to calm the f*** down, and actually think about what he's saying.

Dave Darts is beyond terrible, he needs a slap round the head and a sending off to front a fishing programme or something: I guarantee you he wont notice the difference.

I think Groves got it right when he told Nelson that people like him inflating De Gale is the problem. I completely agree with that!

Nelson's all about sucking bum whenever he interviews, when he interviewed Haye in Miami, it was embarrassing!
