He was stopped at the end of the second round by a tough Belgian. The doctor pulled Reid out due to a horrible gash on his leg. It was a vicious affair up to the end, with both men having their moments with savage kicks and punches in front of a huge Japanese crowd.

Matty Skelton who had a very sucessful career in the Japanese run Spectacal has emagrated to Boxing with a reasonale start thus far.
Boxers like Frans Botha, Pele Reid and most recently Mike Tyson, amongst many others, are all appearing on the K-1 Circuit from Boxing.
I do prefer K-1 to UFC, Pride, etc as its more well civilized (If you get what that means)). Not just all out fighting, more like Kickboxing, it has good rules and very entertaining to watch.
Can't wait till Bob Sapp gets owned by Tyson!

Has the Sapp vs Tyson match been confirmed. I still think Tyson will not leave boxing yet and will not risk injury by fighting in K1. Botha so far has embarresed himself and Vince Phillips has probably ended his boxing carrer - and comparing his performance against Hatton to that of Tackie's, he still had a fair bit left.TT wrote:K-1 has close links to Boxing recently

Tyson has recently been quoted in saying that he was at the Klitchko fight to see if he still had it in him, so he's definately questioning whether he can do the training and still fight at a high level. I believe he came away from the Klitchko fight saying yes he still believe. Also (and more significantly) he was heard repeatedly saying that he'd fight anybody cause he needs the money. I think Boxing will provide a big source of income than K1. Unlike Botha, who is finished at world level and will no longer earn mega bucks, he cannot aford to do both incase of injury.

He does more crazy kicking than boxing in K1. Seems like he doesn't use his best tools. That kicking of him may look flashy but I rarely see him connect.
He's just another confirmation of my idea about K1: fighters that couldn't succeed in their "own" sport(either too chinny or too raw) and now try to earn some money in the K1-circus

Frans Botha certainly keeps coming back for more.
The Sapp-Tyson fight has not been finalized yet but Tyson has signed a contract with K-1 to fight, don't know who it is scheduled against and when it will take place but he has signed a contract with K-1. He was also at the recent K-1 PPV in Las Vegas, and after Sapp beat Kimo, Tyson came into teh ring causing skirmishing between Bob and Mike and alot of trash talking. There is a hell lot of money to be made in K-1, maybe not as much, but in Japan, where Tyson is huge, they constantly sell out 70,000+ arenas in K-1. I don't know where Mike's future lies but he WILL make big bucks next year.

A guy I know is related to my countryman, and three-time K1 heavy champ Peter Aerts, and told me what he made a couple of years ago.
Even in the smaller fights they make more in one fight than you and I make in a year(well i can only speak for myself of course)
Compare this to what journeyman fighters get, and let's be honest, Francois Botha and Shannon Briggs aren't exactly contenders in boxing nowadays, I'm sure they can make a lot more money in K1

K1 is becoming like wrestling in the Fifties, when washed-up fighters like Louis and Carnera could earn big money once their boxing days were clearly done. The only difference, of course, Louis and Carnera were never going to get hurt in wrestling, whereas, as Vince Phillips showed recently, K1 is a hurtful, brutal sport.
It's very dangerous for fighters who have taken a lot of shots already.
