What a record
What a record
Check out this guys record. Len wickwar. Dont know if any u lads heard of him but he was a busy boy. Averaging fifty fights a year for nine years, alot being ten rounders. I dont think there would be too many out there with more fights
Re: What a record
In those days, boxing & rooting was the only recognized sport
Given his boxing record, I guess he didn't do much rooting

Re: What a record
Mate dont think he had time to do anything but fight the poor bloke. Probably didnt have time to train just fought every few days :-). And i thought old pistol paz was active, lazy prick needs to get busier. Ha ha
Re: What a record
Most of his fights were in the 1930s, when regular work was scarce in the UK, as well as out here. Going by dates he amassed his record even with taking time out for World War II, probably a serviceman.
Re: What a record
He didn't even get one title shot - shame there wasn't a WBO Transcontinental pacific blue belt up for grabs in those days.
Re: What a record
He fought Eric Boon for the British Lightweight Title. That was considered big time then. Highlights below.

Re: What a record
I couldn't find that on his record. See he fought for the Leicester title (probably worth more than these pan pacific titles anyway)Brute wrote:He fought Eric Boon for the British Lightweight Title. That was considered big time then. Highlights below.

Re: What a record
July 17, 1939. On further search it was a non title fight, Boon was the British champion.
Boon had a long career. His last three fights were in Australia in 1952, being KOed by Pran Mikus and George Barnes in Melbourne and Pat Ford in Brisbane. Must have needed the money.
