He was supposed to be in Oswestry in March but it's looking like the autumn now, they're all coming over here for these tours now aren't they?

We've had Ali, Tyson, Leonard, Duran and now Frazier paraded around these hotels and theatres in past months!

That's before you count Calzaghe, Hatton, Benn, Collins et al....top stuff, though they can be very pricey.

Luckily Dragon got me interviews with most of them, not sure I could afford £100 a ticket for dinner and a pic, but Hagler's deal sounds good.

no doubt its "dragonpromotions" doin the one in oswestry ? i think a lot of em are a rip off as you cant get nothin signed unless you pay a outrageous sum and yet its a lot of money to fork out for the ticket,you have even got to pay for a photo with em ! i went t o see that hagler a few years ago and he was behavin like a right knobhead,he wouldnt sign anything and got lemon over havin a photo with him and the ticket was £60 !! its a bloody liberty with these dinner shows as you cant get near em,they give all this gold bollox and platinum tickets but its a rip off,i wouldnt go and to a dragonpromotion event ever again as i went to one and it was suppose to be roy shaw and frank fraser but only fraser turned up and it was shaw i only wanted to see !!

Checked the poster at dinner, the tickets are advertised as being £25, not £20, sorry for the inaccuracy there. The date is 17th May, at Castleford Civic Centre, West Yorkshire.

I've just googled whether or not its going ahead, and have found that a Joe Frazier event is being planned for the same night in Wakefield, about seven miles away, with tickets starting at sixty pounds. I suspect the one with the cheaper tickets has been cancelled, and the venue changed, due to a fracas last week which found its way into the local paper - punters turning up for a Ricky Hatton evening managed to drink the bar dry, before getting drunk, and a big fuss has kicked off about it. Looks like its the same promoter, and he's kicked the Civic Centre (run by the Council) into touch, found another venue, and upped ticket prices massively.

The poster advertising that Joe Frazier is coming to the Civic Centre remains in the shop window of a taxi rank I walk past twice a day though, with ticket prices at £25. It's there now, apologies for misleading anyone, it was unintentional :)

HUNDREDS of boxing fans failed to get punch drunk after a bar at Castleford Civic Centre ran out of beer during a talk by sporting star Ricky Hatton.


Tony Dunn, of Sports Media Promotions, slammed Wakefield Council for failing to “adequately” stock its bar for the extravaganza on Saturday night – forcing staff to buy cans of booze from a nearby supermarket.

The company boss, who hired the council venue for the event, said: “It was an absolute shambles. I just couldn’t believe it.”

Mr Dunn, who set up the sports promotion business with his wife Julia two years ago, claims he paid the council more than £650 to hire the venue for a talk by the former world boxing champion.

The cost included room hire and bar provision – with the council taking 100 per cent of the takings for drinks.

Mr Dunn said: “Before the night I’d warned the council to expect around 400 boxing fans, mostly male, and to make sure the bar was fully stocked.

“When we got there they only had two members of staff on each bar and when it hit around 8.30pm they said they had run out of beer.

“In the end a member of staff had to go to Asda to buy some more drinks and they ended up selling cans of warm beer for around £2.80. It was disgusting.

“The organisation was absolutely shocking. I’ve never seen anything like it before in my life.

“I had a number of complaints from customers – not about Ricky Hatton, but about the organisation of things that were out of my control.

“When something like this happens it comes back on the promoter and it’s affected my reputation and my business.

“It would definitely make me reconsider booking the venue again.”

Mr Dunn has a future event planned at the venue with Joe Frazier – the man who beat Muhammad Ali and famously fought him three times – on Tuesday May 17.

He met representatives from the council on Tuesday, who have offered to provide the venue free of charge.

A council spokeswoman said: “We’re sorry that Mr Dunn feels let down and we worked hard to ensure the event went smoothly.

“We always try to provide the best possible service to our customers and acknowledge that we can learn from this experience.

“We are working to resolve the issue and hope to maintain a good working relationship with Mr Dunn, who is a valued customer.”

I attended this last night and it was probably the worst boxing event I've ever been too, you couldn't understand a word Frazier was saying, he was just mumbling on about nothing.

If you're thinking of parting with your hard earned to go to a future event I really wouldn't bother
