Simpson v Smith who wins?

Post by DougieC30 »

Done the same poll before last years fight. Smith won the poll with 60% of the votes. As we all know the fight was close and could have gone either way but Smith got the nod. Who do yous think will win 2nd time round? Both have got new trainers and there is 2belts and bigger things to look forward too for the winner.

I picked Simpson to win the first fight, I thought he won the first fight, and I think he will win this fight--although I'm saying this without much confidence. I can, however, say with certitude that no matter what happens this will be a tight one.

It will be a close fight. Won't be suprised if a few people go for the draw.

Was just giving the results of the last poll to see what the difference is this time around. As they say its only the both of them in the ring and nnot the supporters. I said Simmy last time round and am sticking with him again. It really is a 50/50 fight but

Billy, I'm not trying to start a ruck here, but it's very narrow-minded of you to assume that we'll all vote on the basis of our nationality, not to mention somewhat insulting to the intelligence of the posters on here.
Please also don't forget there's a big difference on occasion between who you want to win a fight and who you think will win a fight :TU:

You are from Essex!! You don't get anymore English than that!

NB: By the way, I think Simpson will win it - if he gets the decision in Liverpool is another matter.

Here we go again, Stephen got the decision in scotland, y didn't John get it,in his home town, both Warren fighters at the time. Stephen will win this fight clearly this time an people will start talk in about him again as one ov our top prospects/boxers. Billy, u sed all this before ther last fight, same old shit. John only threw 400 punches, u can't throw punches at some1 who doesn't let u an is not always ther to be hit.

Think they`re both top class pro`s, but just think Swifty looks class, not taking away from simpson thought his win over lindsay was top draw, and I think he comes across well when interviewed works hard and gives his all, I just think Swifty has classier work in and out. Will be a top fight can`t wait. When you next out Liam :TU:

Boxings not always about who got the decisions beefy. Alot o people thought John won last time. Nae doubt your bro is a class boxer but i think Simmo will have him this time. Both were not at their best last time out. Is Stephen's hand awrite mate? I hope for a cracking . Best o luck tae both. Should be gid.

Liam - that is not how it works and you know it - look at case 1: Hamed vs Robinson, though the fighters had the same manager and it was held 20 minutes from Robinson's house - Steve Robinson was the recipient of the biggest screwing in British boxing history. Who do you think FW sees as the future - Simpson or Smith? Who do you think he wants to win? Face it - Simpson has to knock him out to win this fight anywhere - Liverpool - doubly so. :TU:

Good post lad. That's a prime example Simmo has to win big but FM is promoting. John is has made a career outta winning on the road. Never won a title fight in Scotland. Should be gid.

I think what Fat Git meant was that Warren allegedly did a lot he could prior to the fight itself to pave the way for Hamed's success in it - it's been documented elsewhere that the Robinson camp felt the deck was stacked against them.
As you touch on, it was ultimately immaterial as the result would have been the same regardless, but Warren didn't display any neutrality around that fight, hardly surprising given Hamed was his 'cash cow'.

Should be a cracker whoever wins!

I fancy Simpson here, last time he tried to box TOO much and was most effective when putting the pressure on but doing it cleverly behind the jab and then working inside, the way he fought Lindsay was perfect, if he fights like that again with effective aggression working in behind the jab then I see him eeking out a close but clear decision. Smith will have success with his boxing skills but I see Smipson winning the decision!

No worries :TU: I'm a complete neutral on this one as while I'm English, I'm a fan of both fighters and their camps - most importantly it's good to see banter underpinned by mutual respect in the whole affair :TU:

I thought Simpson won their first fight and he looked hugely impressive against Lindsay last time out.

I'm on Simpson at 13/8 outright and by stoppage at 10/1
