John McDermott is going to be a different proposition though. I have to say Price has had a fair bit of stick on here but tonight Butler was shaping up nicely and got caught with a thunderous shot - he got up and had a go so he didn't come here to go through the motions. So fair play to David Price tonight! Good win!

David Price
I have to say that was a lovely right hand he put over Rafe Butler with.

2right, he nearly took the guys head off with that shot, but i still think he hasnt got it mentally which will be his downfall at top level..hope i'm wrong thoFat Git wrote:I have to say that was a lovely right hand he put over Rafe Butler with.

Re: David Price
I think Price will beat McDermott comfortably. He has all the physical tools and amateur experience needed to make a big impact on the HW scene. I still have some concerns about his chin, but I don't think McD will test it too much. I know it's earlly days, but in Price I see a guy who is going beyond British level.

Re: David Price
Got to agree fella's, I think Price has got bags of potential. We'll obviously know more after the McDermott fight which should be a cracking contest. Where he goes after that, if he wins, should be very interesting to watch. Winner of Chisora Vs Fury? Or maybe another fight before that but he's on the right road by the looks of it.
Re: David Price
I think Big John will beat him.
Re: David Price
Price can really crack with that right hand. McDeromtt can take a shot though, it's a fight I'm really looking forward to. I fancy Price to do the job though, I think he's got enough to take himself past British title level.
Re: David Price
It will answer a few questions if big John comes out like he did against Pele Reid or Larry. I think Price wins either way though. Time will tell...

Re: David Price
Neither Pele or Big Larry have the skill of Price. He is an extremely well schooled boxer,Olympic bronze medalist. There is no way John will even try to put it on him like that.If he does,he could get chinned Skelton style.JamesH wrote:It will answer a few questions if big John comes out like he did against Pele Reid or Larry. Re: David Price
To be fair I wasn't suggesting he was in the same class but I am keen to see how Price would respond to an all out attack. I suspect he'd respond fine, but I'd be interested to see it. I don't think that it's certain at all that Big John won't use the rushing tactics, in fact I'd suggest that's exactly the start he will try to make. Price is a class above Reid and Larry but they weren't weren't exactly without a chance of knocking John out when he did in those fights. We shall see...mickey1975 wrote:Neither Pele or Big Larry have the skill of Price.
Cracking right for the first knock down, it was an impressive punch. Big John will be a very tough test though, he keeps coming out and causing surprises and cannot be taken lightly. Price has not been in with anyone upto now so will have to have really good sparring or John could cause problems.
Re: David Price
If that is the case Price will beat Big John, and Price hits much harder than Fury. Reid and Larry were exposed as novices, Price has been fighting top level amateur for years.MachoMan09 wrote:David Price = Tyson Fury + 20%.

Price beats McDermott trust me
Re: David Price
BOOM!!
Bring on BIG Mac for a proper litmus test.
Pricey could be the best of the current bunch of British HW's IMO

Jon Mcdermot should be blasted out fairly early... hopefully.
hes been clogging up the division for too long with distinctly average skills
we've had to endure about 50 rounds with Fury and Williams

Ive always thought Price had the tools since his amateur days. He's a huge man, but has good balance and quick hands. People seemed rather skeptical about his chances early on, but seem to be coming round.
Re: David Price
good win for pricey last night i agree with those saying he will win a world title but not untill wlad and vitali retire, mcdermott is vastly underated but price should stop him late on

The talks of world class are a tad early..hes has top fights in this country with Fury&Chisora without thinking any furthur....I like the look of the big scouser but im worried his chin will let him down if he gets to top level...diggler wrote:good win for pricey last night i agree with those saying he will win a world title but not untill wlad and vitali retire, mcdermott is vastly underated but price should stop him late on

i agree with you hes no where near ready for world class but hes got the potential to get there, regarding the chin i think he'll adopt a wlad type style dont think its anywhere as bad as people make out tho

I remember him getting knocked down a few times against the indian chap in the commenwealth final a few times but he came back&won the gold, then the loss to the Cammerelle..thats why i question his chin....i want to see him Chisora&fury box one another,id fancy Price with either...hopefully good times in the british heavyweight division againdiggler wrote:Tommy Gunn13 wrote:The talks of world class are a tad early..hes has top fights in this country with Fury&Chisora without thinking any furthur....I like the look of the big scouser but im worried his chin will let him down if he gets to top level...diggler wrote:good win for pricey last night i agree with those saying he will win a world title but not untill wlad and vitali retire, mcdermott is vastly underated but price should stop him late on

I agree - he has gone down properly against people his size who can clout. The jury is out until he fights someone his size and reach who will be able to belt his chin and then we can see what happens, I am saying that - I think McDermott has a great chance in this one. Price a world champion? No! That is not to take anything away from last night because that was an excellent performance.Tommy Gunn13 wrote:I remember him getting knocked down a few times against the indian chap in the commenwealth final a few times but he came back&won the gold, then the loss to the Cammerelle..thats why i question his chin....i want to see him Chisora&fury box one another,id fancy Price with either...hopefully good times in the british heavyweight division againdiggler wrote:Tommy Gunn13 wrote: The talks of world class are a tad early..hes has top fights in this country with Fury&Chisora without thinking any furthur....I like the look of the big scouser but im worried his chin will let him down if he gets to top level...

He isn't a bad fighter and seems like a nice guy but if he gets to be British champion then he will have done well.

Price will beat big John with ease thats not a test, well on paper it is...He looked impressive beating Larry in 1 round but hes a novice&got nothing but a punchers chance....Price in 3rounds against JohnFat Git wrote:I agree - he has gone down properly against people his size who can clout. A very good win against an experienced opponent. McDermott is yet another step up and he could make a real statement if he can put an impressive performance in against Big John
