I think Eastman won especially the way he stayed calm and walked forward as the yanks always score in favour of
I think Joppy may have sneaked it but while he was doing all the quantity Eastman was doing all the quality work. Joppy's workrate brought him through, very much similar to the way he fiddled his way through the final rounds against Hopkins. If Eastman had applied himself a little more then he may have taken the fight but you know the Americans like to score for "Aggression" regardless of whether it is actually "Effective" or not (see DLH-Mosley and Mayorga-Forrest II for that one). It's about time they started recognising the better Boxing and which scoring punches landed rather than watching who constantly comes forward all the time.

i thought joppy edged it
don't like admitting it but eastman paid for that 1st half and there was a few rds in the 2nd half of the fight he didn't step on it enuff either
joppy to his credit fought a smart fight always on the move and that frustrated eastman, its a shame it wasn't a 15 rounder perhaps the result would have been different.
yeah i must get this fight from one of the video suppliers i'm sure most will have it, its a pretty good fight from what i remember, i think i'll also get that mccracken fight to, c eastman beat on his trainer

I thought it was a very fair decision, Joppy was nailing Eastman almost at will throughout the middle rounds, and was outlanding him in most rounds.
Just because someone lands a hard shot which knocks their opponents head back, doesn't mean that you ignore the three their opponent landed in return.
Eastman blew it, he may have impressed the crowd with his antics and his ability to take a shot without flinching, but you don't get awarded rounds for having a good chin and amusing showboating techniques.

The 10-8 round closed the gap, but Joppy still won by 2. I was really suprised that the crowd booed the decision.
Had Joppy not been floored I don't think there would have been complaints at a 4-5 point margin for Joppy. I think the fact the Eastman was on top when the fight ended make us think he was the better man.
I thought Joppy not only had the quanity but the quality aswell, Joppy looked like a great champion that night. However, when up against greats he's looked ordinary.
