I was interested to see that the "Hispanic Causing Panic" is the new Lightweight number 2 on Boxrec ratings. This month also there was a feature on Lazcano in Boxing Monthly, they seemed to imply that he would have a chance against Mayweather (a fight he has already refused due to short notice). What do others make of him?
He has a decent 33-2-1 (25) record and his losses were both early on his career, he has since amassed a good run beating fighters like John Molina, Jesse Lleija (Debatable) and Wilfredo Vasquez. However here is my problem with him....i have admittedly only seen him once and that was last time out against an old Stevie Johnston and i was only partially impressed. Boxing Monthly seemed to mask his peformance saying he showed good power and skills which he did, but he was also mesmerised at times by Johnston's Boxing.
Whenever Johnston boxed and moved he had Lazcano looking static and one dimensional and almost plodding, thrown in the fact he dropped him (twice?) and it was only when Johnston's tired legs could not run any longer and he became a static target when Lazcano began to get regular success. There was also point at the end of the fight where Johnston was hit low and he neglected the full 5 minutes and to his credit started fighting again after 30 seconds respite. Shortly after restarting he was caught with the final flurry and stopped, if he had taken longer to recuperate he would have probably seen the final bell.
So i ask you, would Lazcano beat Mayweather? I doubt it, Floyd would box his head off in my opinion. Lazcano had trouble with dealing with a boxer and mover which Floyd does to a tee. Anyone else care to render an opinion on this chap?

I agree, that Johnson (the only fight i ever saw lazano in to be honest) sometime baffled and confused him, and only tiredness stopped him seeing the final bell.
As to a Mayweather match, there is not a lightweight in the world who could beat him.
Would he win the fight though Bennie?
